About the Role:

As our Bartender, you will be the face of the bar experience at Beast & Butterflies, crafting exceptional cocktails, serving premium beverages, and creating genuine connections with every guest. You will deliver outstanding hospitality while maintaining an energetic atmosphere that reflects the vibrant personality of M Social Sunnyvale.

This role is ideal for someone with a passion for mixology, exceptional guest service skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, social environment.

Your Impact – Beverage & Guest Experience

You will play a key role in creating memorable guest experiences by delivering exceptional beverage service, engaging with guests, and maintaining a welcoming, high-energy atmosphere. Your expertise, creativity, and professionalism will contribute to guest satisfaction, repeat business, and the overall success of the Food & Beverage operation.

What You'll Be Doing

Beverage Service

  • Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages according to recipes and brand standards
  • Create handcrafted cocktails while maintaining consistency, quality, and presentation
  • Provide knowledgeable recommendations on cocktails, wine, beer, and spirits
  • Accurately prepare guest checks and process payments using the POS system
  • Monitor guest alcohol consumption and practice responsible alcohol service

Guest Experience

  • Welcome guests with a warm, friendly, and engaging attitude
  • Build rapport with guests while delivering attentive and personalized service
  • Anticipate guest needs and respond promptly to requests
  • Resolve guest concerns professionally and escalate issues when appropriate
  • Create a lively, welcoming atmosphere that reflects the M Social brand

Bar Operations

  • Prepare the bar for daily service, including stocking liquor, beer, wine, garnishes, glassware, and supplies
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the bar, service stations, and storage areas
  • Perform opening, closing, and side work duties according to established procedures
  • Monitor inventory levels and communicate supply needs to management
  • Assist with inventory counts and product rotation

Team Collaboration

  • Work closely with Food & Beverage, Culinary, Banquet, and Management teams
  • Support restaurant and banquet beverage service during high-volume periods
  • Communicate effectively regarding guest requests, menu changes, and operational priorities
  • Foster a collaborative and guest-focused work environment

Safety & Compliance

  • Follow all food safety, sanitation, and health department regulations
  • Verify guest identification and comply with California Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) requirements
  • Handle cash and credit card transactions accurately and securely
  • Follow company safety procedures and report maintenance or safety concerns

Technical / Role-Specific Requirements

    • Minimum 1–2 years of bartending experience, preferably in a full-service restaurant, hotel, or upscale bar
    • Strong knowledge of classic and contemporary cocktails, wine, beer, and spirits
    • Experience using point-of-sale (POS) systems
    • Food Handler Card required or ability to obtain upon hire
    • Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) Certification required or ability to obtain as required by California law
    • Ability to accurately handle cash and beverage transactions

Preferred Qualifications

    • Previous hotel or lifestyle restaurant experience preferred
    • Mixology training or cocktail certification is a plus
    • Wine knowledge or WSET certification is beneficial
    • Experience with craft cocktails and premium spirits preferred
    • Bilingual abilities are a plus

Physical Requirements

    • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift
    • Frequently lift and carry up to 35 pounds
    • Ability to bend, reach, stock shelves, and move quickly in a busy bar environment
    • Comfortable working in a high-volume, guest-facing setting

Education

    • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
    • Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience will be considered
