Job Description

Description The System Engineer II supports the development and evaluation of RF spectrum certification documents for commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) equipment, non-developmental initiatives (NDI), and new or significantly modified radiating or receiving systems used by the Department of Defense (DOD) or included in foreign military sales contracts. This position prepares DD Form 1494, Application for Equipment Frequency Allocation, using Stepstone and/or Equipment Location-Certification Information Database (EL-CID) software. The role also evaluates equipment described in spectrum certification documents and supports efforts to gather information regarding equipment performance.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with AFLCMC and AFRL Program Managers and Project Engineers to identify RF equipment currently used or planned for use in support of DOD contracts.
  • Review, analyze, and process equipment frequency allocation documentation.
  • Verify the accuracy of technical data, equipment characteristics, and intended-use descriptions.
  • Document areas where systems do not comply with national spectrum standards.
  • Coordinate with Manufacturing RF Engineers, Program Office Engineers, and Air Force Spectrum Management Office RF Engineers to resolve technical questions.
  • Support documentation and foreign release requirements for RF systems used outside the United States.
  • Coordinate with Program Offices, the AFLCMC Foreign Disclosure Office, and DOD Command Frequency Management Offices.
  • Serve as a technical subject-matter expert on national rules and regulations governing RF spectrum use.
  • Act as a focal point for identifying and resolving RF spectrum issues associated with new systems entering the DOD inventory. Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or equivalent technical education and training related to RF systems.
  • At least six years of experience working with RF systems.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain a DOD Secret security clearance.
  • U.S. citizenship is required.

Preferred

  • Background in RF systems.
  • Completion of the DOD Inter-service Frequency Management School.
  • Experience with Stepstone and/or EL-CID software. Benefits
