Job Description

Duties The United States Space Force (USSF) at Fort Detrick, Frederick, MD is searching for a Telecommunications Specialist, 53 Space Operations Squadron (NH-0391-02, GS-05/11 Equivalent).

Description: Exciting opportunity to be a member of the DoW's newest branch: The United States Space Force! We are looking for a skilled and motivated Wideband Global SATCOM professional to serve as the technical backbone of a critical communications mission. Prior Satellite Control (ASI 1C) experience is a plus but not a requirement: If you have a background in Satellite Communications, we can train you to be a controller. A TS clearance is also a requirement for this position and preference goes to those otherwise qualified candidates that have an active TS.

This is a shifwork position and we follow the Panama schedule. Differential pay is authorized for nights, weekends, and holidays. This position falls under the Acquisition Demo program, which can be confusing.

BLUF: You enjoy the benefits of being a government employee without the constraints of the GS system. Pay is broadbanded with GS-equivalent pay ranges and this position currently falls in the GS 10-11 range.

Ideal Candidate: *Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret w/ SCI clearance.* 1. Knowledge of Wideband Global SATCOM (WGS) systems and operations sufficient to serve as a technical advisor to other satellite controllers. 2. Ability to configure and operate WGS systems and tools to ensure authorized levels of performance. 3. Skill in working with WGS customers to assess needs, provide assistance, resolve problems, and satisfy expectations. 4. Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships and to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. 5.

Ability to organize work, set priorities, and determine resource requirements, determine goals and strategies to achieve them, coordinate with other organizations, monitor progress, and evaluate outcomes. 6. Ability to identify and solve complex problems and to use sound judgment and decisions to generate and evaluate alternatives and make recommendations. Requirements Conditions of employment

  • Must be a U.S Citizen.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret /SCI security clearance.
  • Safeguards classified or sensitive budget-related information and/or files.
  • May be required to work overtime on an unscheduled or emergency basis.
  • Eligible for situational telework only, including Emergency and OPM prescribed "Unscheduled Telework".
  • This position will close after 5 business days or 75 applications, whichever comes first.
  • Employee may be required to perform travel by military or commercial passenger aircraft in the performance of temporary duty assignments.
  • PCS / relocation funding is not authorized.
  • This position is designated as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Testing Program.
  • Subject to Temporary Duty Assignment (TDY): 15 days a year.
