QA Test Engineer

Position Overview

We are seeking a QA Test Engineer with experience testing Point-of-Sale (POS), Kitchen Display Systems (KDS), and restaurant technology platforms.

This role will be responsible for validating the quality, reliability, and functionality of restaurant-facing applications and their integrations. The ideal candidate understands how POS and KDS solutions operate within a real restaurant environment, including the flow of orders and data between front-of-house, back-of-house, payment, menu, and other connected restaurant systems.

This is a hands-on quality engineering role requiring strong functional testing skills, attention to end-to-end workflows, and the ability to troubleshoot issues across interconnected systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Test POS, KDS, and related restaurant technology platforms across functional and end-to-end workflows.
• Validate order flows from the point of entry through downstream systems, including kitchen display and order fulfillment.
• Test integrations between POS/KDS platforms and connected restaurant applications and services.
• Develop, maintain, and execute comprehensive test cases and test scenarios.
• Perform functional, integration, regression, system, and end-to-end testing.
• Validate different restaurant transaction and operational scenarios across front-of-house and back-of-house systems.
• Identify, document, track, and troubleshoot software defects and integration issues.
• Work closely with developers, product teams, business stakeholders, and other QA engineers to understand requirements and acceptance criteria.
• Reproduce production issues and help engineering teams isolate root causes.
• Validate software changes across multiple environments and configurations.
• Participate in release validation and help ensure production readiness.
• Identify opportunities for test automation and contribute to automated test coverage where appropriate.
• Help improve QA processes, testing coverage, and overall product quality.

Required Qualifications

• Professional experience in software quality assurance or quality engineering.
• Hands-on experience testing POS systems, KDS platforms, restaurant applications, or closely related hospitality technology.
• Strong understanding of restaurant workflows and the interaction between front-of-house and back-of-house systems.
• Experience performing functional, integration, regression, and end-to-end testing.
• Experience validating applications that interact with multiple downstream or third-party systems.
• Strong defect identification, documentation, troubleshooting, and root-cause-analysis skills.
• Experience working within Agile software development environments.
• Ability to translate business and technical requirements into meaningful test scenarios.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with major restaurant POS or hospitality platforms such as Oracle MICROS/Simphony, NCR Aloha, Toast, PAR Brink, Square for Restaurants, or similar solutions.
• Experience testing Kitchen Display Systems and order-routing workflows.
• Familiarity with online ordering, delivery, loyalty, payment, menu management, or restaurant back-office systems.
• API and integration testing experience.
• Experience with SQL and database validation.
• Experience using API testing tools such as Postman or similar platforms.
• Experience with test automation frameworks and automated regression testing.
• Familiarity with CI/CD environments and modern software delivery practices.
