Job Description

Cox Automotive is seeking a Sr Database Administrator to design, implement, and support large-scale database environments powering our global automotive platforms. In this role, you will manage SQL Server and cloud database solutions, optimize performance, ensure high availability, and maintain data security and compliance. You will lead backup and recovery strategies, troubleshoot complex production issues, and partner with application and DevOps teams to improve reliability and scalability. You'll mentor junior DBAs, contribute to automation and monitoring initiatives, and help drive innovation in a collaborative, people-first culture.

Responsibilities

  • Design, configure, and maintain SQL Server and cloud database environments for high-volume telecom and media applications
  • Monitor and optimize database performance, indexing, and query execution plans
  • Implement and manage high availability, clustering, replication, and disaster recovery strategies
  • Ensure database security, access controls, auditing, and compliance with company and industry standards
  • Perform regular backups, restores, and validation of disaster recovery procedures
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex production database incidents and performance issues
  • Collaborate with developers, architects, and Dev
  • Ops teams on schema design and release management
  • Automate operational tasks, monitoring, and reporting to improve reliability and efficiency
  • Document database architectures, standards, and operational runbooks
  • Mentor junior DBAs and contribute to best practices across database operations
