Job Description

Job Title: Senior Electric Rates Analyst Duration:8+ months of Contract (FTE conversion is possible but based on needs of the business at the time) Location: San Diego, CA 92123

Description:

  • Develops, analyzes, revises and administers the organization's tariff schedules. Compiles, studies and maintains rate, revenue, load and customer data to assess the effectiveness of current tariff schedules and rules, and develops proposals to change the organization's existing rates and rules. Typically found in regulated telecommunications, electric and/or gas utility organizations.

Primary Purpose:

  • Conducts detailed rate analysis and develops models that guide pricing decisions and regulatory filings. Provides insights that help the organization balance financial objectives with customer and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Supports leaders with comprehensive mass rate impact and comparison projects, ensuring timely and accurate outcomes.
  • Performs standard to complex rate analysis to assist non-residential customers, providing tailored solutions and insights.
  • Conducts detailed reviews of rate change applications, ensuring compliance and strategic alignment.
  • Collects and analyzes financial information and operating statistics to inform the development of regulatory strategies.
  • Maintains and enhances rate analysis tools and internal calculators for the team, ensuring efficient and accurate analysis capabilities.
  • Examines customer communications for information verification, ensuring accuracy and clarity.
  • Supports the development of special contract rates for current and prospective customers, aligning with strategic objectives.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Top Desired Skills:
-previous electric rate design or implementation experience with an investor-owned utility, preferably in California
-previous experience actively participating or leading a regulatory proceeding, including writing testimony, responding to data requests, performing rate analysis to support company s policy positions
-strong excel skills
-ability to act autonomously once direction has been provided

Other Note:

-One round of interviews with host manager and director
-FTE conversion is possible but based on needs of the business at the time.
-This role will be onsite five days a week, Monday- Friday.
-Working hours are 8 AM - 5 PM
-Bachelor's degree required- preferably in Economics, Accounting or Finance
