Duration: Long-term (30) 

Job Description:  

  • 84 months practical, real-world application of the PowerBuilder Integrated Development Environment (IDE) and its associated technologies to design, build, maintain, and modernize enterpriselevel applications, using PowerBuilder, PowerScript, and PowerBuilder DataWindow technology

  • 84 months of experience developing and maintaining PowerBuilder applications built on the PowerBuilder Foundation Classes (PFC) framework, including extending and customizing PFC ancestor objects and services

  • 84 months of experience developing PowerBuilder applications that use an Oracle database, including writing Oracle Procedural Language/Structured Query Language (PL/SQL) stored procedures and packages and calling them from PowerBuilder.

  • 12 months of PowerBuilder development experience within the last 36 months.

  • 84 months of experience as the lead or primary developer responsible for production support of PowerBuilder applications, including diagnosing and resolving production issues across the application and database layers.

Detailed Job Description: ITS requires an Expert-level Software Developer to serve as lead developer for NYS Homes and Community Renewal's (HCR) portfolio of mission-critical PowerBuilder applications following the unexpected loss of the agency's lead and only PowerBuilder developer. The selected candidate will develop, enhance, and support these applications, which are built on the PowerBuilder Foundation Classes (PFC) framework with an Oracle database, until they are replaced through the agency's modernization efforts. No inhouse PowerBuilder expertise remains, so the candidate must be able to work independently in a large, mature codebase with minimal onboarding and without disrupting production operations.
