Staff Software Engineer – Mission Applications Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Staff Software Engineer to support a large-scale technology modernization initiative focused on delivering mission-critical applications that enable operational decision-making, data-driven workflows, and enterprise business processes. This role will be responsible for designing, developing, and deploying user-facing applications while collaborating directly with end users, product teams, and engineering stakeholders.

This is a hands-on senior engineering position for someone who enjoys working across the full technology stack, making architectural decisions, and delivering production-ready software that solves complex business and operational challenges. Key Responsibilities • Own the design, development, and delivery of user-facing enterprise applications from concept through production deployment • Build responsive front-end interfaces, backend services, APIs, and data integrations that support mission and business operations • Develop and maintain applications utilizing modern enterprise platforms and web application frameworks • Collaborate directly with users, stakeholders, and product teams to understand business processes and translate requirements into technical solutions • Design scalable and maintainable software architectures that support long-term growth and operational needs • Establish and maintain engineering best practices for testing, code review, security, CI/CD, and production support • Develop and optimize integrations between applications, data platforms, and enterprise systems • Troubleshoot and resolve complex application, infrastructure, and integration issues across the technology stack • Participate in technical design reviews and contribute to platform-wide architectural decisions • Mentor junior and mid-level engineers while promoting software engineering best practices across the team • Support production deployments, operational monitoring, and ongoing application enhancement efforts Required Qualifications • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent professional experience • 8+ years of professional software engineering experience developing enterprise applications • Strong experience with JavaScript, TypeScript, React, and modern web application development frameworks • Experience designing and developing backend services, APIs, and data-intensive applications • Experience delivering software solutions on enterprise application or data platforms • Demonstrated experience owning software capabilities through design, development, testing, deployment, and production support • Strong understanding of software architecture, application security, and engineering best practices • Experience working within large-scale enterprise or government environments • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work across multiple technical domains
