StaffRight Associates is sourcing for a premier global renewable energy leader to secure top-tier engineering talent for this pivotal function. Operating in a flexible hybrid model based out of Houston, Texas, this position oversees complex electrical pre-design, power plant control engineering, and interconnections for large-scale utility projects across the United States and Canada.

What You’ll Do

  • Architect, evaluate, and optimize grid compliance strategies for major renewable energy installations throughout all phases of the project lifecycle.

  • Review client contracts, interconnection documentation, and system operator mandates to isolate technical risks and draft precise compliance frameworks.

  • Collaborate alongside commercial and bid teams to deliver site-specific engineering designs, value-engineered solutions, and tailored technical offerings.

  • Synthesize findings from electrical pre-design analyses to mitigate operational risks early and enhance overall plant performance.

  • Formulate Functional Design Specifications for Power Plant Controllers, Yaw Power Backup Systems, and sophisticated control architectures.

  • Engage directly with system operators, regulatory panels, and technical working groups to guide model utilization and ensure alignment with regional grid requirements.

  • Design rigorous grid compliance test suites, driving site settings and providing specialized oversight during system commissioning and energization.

  • Champion technical excellence by mentoring junior engineering staff and educating cross-functional sales divisions on evolving technological capabilities.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering with a concentration in Power Systems or Control Systems (Master’s Degree or Professional Engineer status highly desirable).

  • Minimum of 7 years of hands-on expertise in Electrical Power Systems, Grid Integration, or Control Systems Engineering.

  • In-depth proficiency interpreting North American Grid Codes, NERC Reliability Standards, and international guidelines including IEC, IEEE, and UL.

  • Demonstrated exposure to advanced modeling tools such as PSCAD, PSS/E, TSAT, or E-TRAN.

  • Familiarity with operational software including SAP, CAD Tools, and the Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Practical background supporting Wind Power Plants, Turbine Implementations, or Substation Controls.

  • Mastered capabilities in Technical Sales Support, Value Engineering, Commissioning, Testing, and Functional Design Specification Creation.

  • Exceptional cross-functional leadership skills, with demonstrated ability to interface effectively with external clients and international stakeholders.

Compensation & Total Rewards

  • Annual base salary ranging between $175,000 and $220,000.

  • 10% annual performance bonus.
