Telstra is seeking a dynamic and strategic Business Information Security Advisor (BISA) to champion security outcomes across our functional teams. Product, Network & Technology - Security & Operations is responsible for Telstra's security and operations, protecting Telstra's assets and infrastructure.

About you: You have experience translating security risks, incidents or control failures into practical remediation plans and driving sustainable improvements across large organisations. You are comfortable operating at executive levels, influencing decisions, and creating accountability for security outcomes that strengthen organisational resilience.

To be successful in the role, you must have: Security leadership experience Analytical and problem-solving skills Strategic Thinking Influencing Skills Stakeholder Management Effective communication Experience leading or coordinating post-incident remediation, security uplift or risk reduction initiatives. Demonstrated ability to influence remediation outcomes across complex stakeholder environments. Experience identifying systemic security issues and driving preventative improvements at scale. All candidates must be Australian Citizens and be eligible to hold a security clearance.

Key Responsibilities Drive the remediation of significant security risks, control weaknesses and incident findings, ensuring clear ownership, accountability and timely resolution. Partner with Security Operations and Cyber Defence teams to ensure incident learnings are translated into practical improvements that reduce the likelihood of recurrence. Identify recurring security issues, systemic control gaps and patterns of risk across the function, and develop targeted prevention and uplift initiatives.

Facilitate collaboration between business, engineering and security teams to remove barriers to remediation and accelerate risk reduction outcomes. Provide visibility of outstanding security issues, remediation progress and risk treatment decisions to functional executives and security leadership. Champion a culture of continuous security improvement by converting security reviews, incidents, audit findings and assurance outcomes into actionable plans that strengthen resilience.

Drive prioritisation of security debt, legacy risks and control uplift activities that improve the organisation's long-term security posture. Drive continuous security improvement by gathering stakeholder feedback on technology, process, and interactions - creating a feedback mechanism and shared understanding between Cyber Security, Security Engineering and the function.

Maintain awareness of industry advances in Cyber Security technology and changes in the Global Cyber Security Threat Landscape to provide contextual thought leadership to the function on potential risks and opportunities Provide feedback on areas of opportunity to improve the Group's Cyber Security, Security Engineering, and Physical Security posture. Reinforce a 'Security first' culture and mindset across the function's leadership team and drive a robust relationship between the Security Advisor and delivery teams.
