Role Summary & Objective
Operating within the Project Management Methodology (PMM) framework, the Project Manager drives project execution, coordinates resource allocation, and tracks key milestones across strategic initiatives. The role ensures that deliverables achieve customer value, maintain a positive cost/benefit ratio, promote high user adoption, and remain compliant with regulatory and quality standards.
Core Responsibilities
- Project Governance & Entry: Define product/project vision, perform stakeholder identification, establish success metrics, and manage project charter information within ServiceNow.
- Schedule & Milestone Management: Create, maintain, and baseline project schedules using standard tools (such as the ServiceNow Planning Console). Establish dependencies, positive/negative lags, and define explicit progress milestones (e.g., end of phase dates, management approvals).
- Resource & Cost Management: Build and maintain resource plans (FTE tracking), coordinate hard allocations with resource managers, and oversee expense logging to ensure actual CAPEX costs align with cost reports.
- Change Control & RAID Management: Track risks, issues, assumptions, and dependencies (RAID) through to resolution or accepted closure. Coordinate the act of identifying, documenting, and approving changes to established baselines (scope, budget, schedule, and quality).
- Organizational Change Management (OCM): Ensure early user involvement, coordinate training strategies, track readiness metrics, and oversee the smooth transition of IT solutions into final operations and support lines.
- Escalation Protocols: Act as the primary interface for resolving project conflicts, escalating unresolved team issues to the Program Manager, local governance bodies, or steering committees as appropriate.
Qualifications & Professional Skills
- Project Frameworks: Deep understanding of formal project management principles, including PMM, PMI, or IPMA certification standards.
- System Competencies: Proficiency in managing timelines, tracking tasks, baselining, and completing resource allocations inside ServiceNow or collaborative boards like Monday.com.
- Leadership & Communication: Exceptional meeting facilitation skills (managing core teams, QA focus forums) and a clear, unambiguous reporting style for presenting monthly project health summaries to leadership.
- Strategic Planning: Proactive mindset focused on navigating ambiguity, understanding broader site strategy goals, tracking the cost of delay profiles, and engaging early during project initiation phases.
- Domain Knowledge: Building/Campus construction project and deliverables experience is a plus.
- Location: Due to the nature of work, daily presence on the South San Francisco campus is a requirement.
