Job Title - Senior Business Performance Analyst
Location - Oakland CA
Duration – 6 months contract (potential extension)
PR- $66/hr. on W2
Position Overview
We are seeking a Senior Business Performance Analyst to support the development of weekly and monthly performance metrics, dashboards, and reporting for the Materials organization.
This role will develop and maintain custom data analytics and reporting solutions that provide actionable insights and support day-to-day business operations. The ideal candidate will have advanced expertise in the Microsoft BI stack, Power BI, Power Platform, Power Automate, Excel, data visualization, and data analysis.
The successful candidate will work across functional teams and partner with business leaders and stakeholders to support process improvements, implement measurement strategies, and develop increasingly advanced business intelligence and analytics capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain weekly and monthly performance metrics, dashboards, and reports.
  • Collect and analyze data to identify root causes of performance issues and recommend improvement solutions.
  • Analyze business processes and performance trends to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Research and apply industry and organizational best practices related to processes, reporting, and analytics.
  • Determine data requirements and collect information from multiple databases and data sources.
  • Perform advanced data analysis and root-cause analysis using appropriate analytical techniques.
  • Design, develop, and maintain operational reporting tools and dashboards.
  • Create complex and automated data routines and processes for reporting and data delivery.
  • Ensure accurate data transformation, validation, and reporting.
  • Develop Power Query solutions and Power BI reports and dashboards to support business objectives.
  • Translate complex data into clear, concise, and actionable business findings.
  • Create analysis that accurately represents the current state of the business.
  • Support process improvement initiatives and measurement of business performance.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams and business stakeholders to understand requirements and develop analytics solutions.
  • Apply sound judgment and advanced problem-solving skills to resolve complex business and data challenges.
  • Assist with coaching and developing less experienced staff and end users when needed.
  • Work independently while collaborating effectively with a high-performing team.
  • Travel may be required, up to approximately 20%.
Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years of relevant business experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Construction Management, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Advanced experience with the Microsoft BI stack, including:
    • Power BI
    • Power Pivot
    • Power View
    • Power Platform
    • Power Automate
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including Power Pivot, Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP, and related functions.
  • Strong experience with Power Query and Power BI reporting.
  • Demonstrated experience creating metrics, dashboards, and performance reports.
  • Strong understanding of data visualization best practices.
  • Experience working with data across multiple databases and data sources.
  • Advanced data analysis and problem-solving skills.
  • Advanced reporting experience using multiple reporting tools.
  • Strong analytical, statistical, modeling, and process improvement capabilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work with limited direction.
  • Familiarity with utility operations.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with SAP and business systems.
  • MBA or other advanced degree.
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification.
  • Experience with advanced statistical and predictive modeling techniques.
  • Experience supporting process improvement and operational performance initiatives.
  • Experience within the utility, energy, materials, or related industries.
Work Location & Schedule
  • Oakland, CA
  • Candidates must currently reside in the Bay Area or near the Oakland work location.
  • Hybrid assignment requiring onsite presence approximately 4–5 times per month at Oakland GO, based on business needs.
  • Flexibility to work at other locations within the service territory may be required.
  • Valid driver's license is required.
  • Travel may be required, up to approximately 20%.
