Senior Solution Engineer - FTTx with a leading Telco client (consulting through FinXL)

FinXL Professional Services is a leading IT consultancy that partners with clients to bridge the gap between business needs and technology capabilities. Since 2003, we've been delivering high-value ICT services across government, finance, telecommunications, and enterprise sectors.

FinXL is seeking a Senior Solution Engineer - FTTx to join our consulting team and be deployed with a leading Telco client on a 12 months contract in North Sydney.

Responsibilities
  • Provide technical leadership for detailed design development, testing, and production deployment of FTTx solutions.
  • Ensure network design decisions appropriately consider scale rollout, OSS impacts, security, automation, and innovation.
  • Manage delivery team-level commitments while proactively tracking risks, issues, and dependencies.
  • Build constructive relationships with vendors and delivery partners to ensure high-quality outcomes.
  • Offer engineering guidance to help internal and external teams navigate operational, lifecycle, capacity, and performance challenges.
Key Skills & Experience
  • Extensive engineering experience in Solution Engineering and Delivery within a large telecommunications provider or vendor environment.
  • Deep technical expertise in FTTx Access Networks including GPON/XGSPON (OLT, ONT), VDSL2 (DSLAM, DPU), and Intent-Based Networking.
  • Strong hands-on experience with FTTx EMS Applications, containerised/virtualised environments (AAC, ACS, AMS), and automation using Jenkins, Ansible, Python, or Shell Scripting.
  • Proven ability to lead virtual technical teams to success and bring new engineering solutions to life.
  • Experience delivering under the SAFe Agile Methodology leveraging JIRA and Confluence to plan and manage work.
  • Confident making design decisions, supporting escalations, and moving seamlessly between high-level architectural thinking and detailed configuration work.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and technical writing skills across both technical and non-technical audiences.
Engagement Details
  • 12 months contract with a leading Telco client.
  • Hybrid working model with 2-3 days/week in the office in North Sydney.
