About the Role

We're looking for a high-taste engineer with a strong eye for quality. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with preference data and rubric creation, understanding what separates a good example from a great one.

You'll communicate clearly and be able to synthesise complex technical work in a concise, structured, and actionable way. You'll be comfortable working in ambiguous, fast-moving environments and have a bias towards shipping over deliberating.

What Does Day-to-Day Look Like?

• Design, refine, and iterate on rubrics and evaluation criteria for preference data.
• Review and label data to a high standard, identifying subtle issues others might miss.
• Build and maintain pipelines and infrastructure supporting data generation, collection, and evaluation workflows.
• Synthesise findings from data work into clear write-ups, updates, and recommendations.
• Collaborate closely with researchers and engineers to translate qualitative judgement into scalable processes.

Required Skills

• 5+ years of proficiency in Python, particularly building and maintaining pipelines and infrastructure, or TypeScript.
• Hands-on experience with preference data collection and/or rubric creation.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to distil technical work into clear, actionable summaries.
• Demonstrated high-quality judgement, with the ability to articulate why something is good, not just that it is.
