Job Description

We are seeking a Sr Staff Accountant with strong QuickBooks expertise to join our finance team. This role blends hands-on accounting with cost analysis and process optimization, making it ideal for someone who can manage daily accounting functions while also contributing to strategic financial decisions. The Staff Accountant will ensure accurate financial reporting, compliance with GAAP, and support efficiency initiatives across the organization.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain the general ledger in QuickBooks, ensuring accuracy and GAAP compliance.
  • Prepare and review financial statements, journal entries, and monthly/annual reconciliations.
  • Handle accounts payable, accounts receivable, invoicing, and payroll processing.
  • Prepare and review monthly bank reconciliation reports.
  • Support audits, tax filings, and regulatory compliance.
  • Analyze cost structures, budget variances, profit margins, and expense allocations.
  • Assist with inventory valuation, cost forecasting, and variance analysis.
  • Identify and recommend improvements in accounting processes and internal controls.
  • Prepare and maintain required files, reports, and data for leadership.
  • Collaborate with operations and finance teams on budgeting, forecasting, and cost-reduction strategies.
  • Follow up on outstanding receivables and provide regular updates to management.
  • Perform additional bookkeeping and accounting tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 10 + years of progressive accounting experience, with exposure to cost accounting preferred.
  • Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks and strong knowledge of GAAP.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, financial modeling).
  • Experience with ERP/accounting systems (SAP, NetSuite, Oracle, etc.) a plus.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Experience in IT, construction, or service-based industries is a plus.
