The Role • Conduct ship checks on various US Navy submarine classes. • Research submarine construction drawings using specialized systems. • Create and optimize 3D mechanical designs using SolidWorks. • Develop and manage large assemblies and 2D installation drawings in accordance with military specifications. • Apply Standard Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) practices. • Develop Bills of Materials and interpret Government Furnished Information. • Mentor and support junior Designer/Drafter colleagues. What You'll Need • A High School Diploma or GED, plus a Technical School CAD Certificate or an Associate's/Bachelor's Degree in Drafting, CAD Design, or Engineering. • Three to four years of experience in 2D and 3D CAD drafting, with a strong preference for SolidWorks. AutoCAD experience is also acceptable. • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint, as well as Adobe PDF tools. • Physical capability to conduct ship checks in confined spaces and climb vertical ladders on submarines. • The ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance. • U.S. Citizenship is required for security clearance purposes.
