Role Purpose

As a pivotal leader in our product organization, you will bridge the gap between enterprise-wide AI strategy and hands-on operational execution. You will design, build, and evolve next-generation, AI-native enterprise applications and multi-agent systems that accelerate AI adoption for SAP and its customers. You will combine strategic technical governance with AI-assisted engineering methods. This will help you deliver intelligent solutions that are secure, scalable, and reliable. These solutions will provide measurable business value.

What You'll Bring

• Strategic & Technical Expertise: A solid background in enterprise architecture and distributed systems. Experience with AI-native application platforms. This includes LLMs, advanced RAG, and multi-agent systems.
• Proven Leadership: Experience in creating and carrying out large-scale engineering and AI transformation strategies. Solid ability to influence executive stakeholders. Can align technology choices with business results.
• Modern Engineering Mindset: You should have solid hands-on experience with AI-assisted engineering patterns. You also need experience with automated code generation, context engineering, and modern CI/CD delivery pipelines.
• Governance & Quality Focus: Proven ability to set engineering standards. Can create evaluation frameworks and benchmarking strategies. These frameworks ensure security, compliance, and reliability as we scale.
• People & Culture Leadership: Experience in mentoring senior technical leaders. Proven ability to build robust engineering teams. Skilled at creating a culture of continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities / What You'll Build

1. Product vision and strategy

• Establish clear product boundaries and integration strategy across Joule, Joule Work, Joule Studio and SAP Business AI.
• Identify emerging technology shifts and translate them into differentiated product capabilities.
• Drive the evolution from low-code/no-code automation toward AI-native, agentic and pro-code development.
• Establish Joule Studio as SAP's strategic platform for enterprise agent and agentic application development.
• Define the long-term vision and multi-year product strategy for Agentic Engineering.

 

1. Agentic engineering platform

• Enable extensibility across SAP and non-SAP business applications.
• Establish a cohesive runtime strategy covering identity, execution, context, memory, observability and security.
• Drive integration of MCP, A2A, APIs and enterprise systems.
• Define capabilities for agent creation, multi-agent orchestration, skills, reusable components, workflows and tools.
• Own product strategy across the complete agent development lifecycle: design, build, test, evaluate, deploy, operate and govern.

 

C. AI-native application development

• Enable seamless publishing and consumption through Fiori Launchpad, SAP Build Work Zone and Joule experiences.
• Build a composable application architecture integrating UI, business data, workflows, agents and enterprise services.
• Define experiences for natural-language development, visual composition and pro-code extensibility.
• Enable customers to augment existing SAP Fiori applications with agents, skills and autonomous workflows.
• Drive the evolution of Joule Studio beyond standalone agent creation into full-fledged agentic business application development.

 

D. Developer experience and ecosystem

• Work with strategic partners and hyperscalers to expand the platform ecosystem.
• Define marketplace and distribution strategies for enterprise agentic solutions.
• Build a scalable ecosystem for first-party and third-party agents, skills, tools and extensions.
• Drive collaboration, version control, reusable assets, testing and application lifecycle management.
• Establish a unified developer experience for business users, professional developers, enterprise architects and partners.

 

E. Enterprise readiness and governance

• Define lifecycle management and operational controls for autonomous agents and applications.
• Ensure extensibility without compromising SAP's clean-core principles.
• Establish comprehensive evaluation, quality, reliability and observability capabilities.
• Define agent identity, authorization, access control and policy enforcement.
• Drive enterprise-grade security, trust, compliance and governance.

 

F. Business strategy and commercial success

• Influence SAP's broader Business AI strategy and investment priorities.
• Establish measurable business outcomes, including productivity, developer velocity, automation rates, agent adoption and customer value realization.
• Drive product-led adoption and expansion across SAP's customer base.
• Partner with finance and go-to-market teams to establish pricing, packaging, licensing and consumption models.
• Define monetization strategies across agent creation, execution, orchestration, consumption and enterprise capabilities.
