Job description

FusionIRX is seeking an experienced Low Voltage Electrical Commissioning Subject Matter Expert (SME) to lead commissioning activities for a large-scale semiconductor fabrication project in Boise, Idaho.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 8 years of experience in electrical systems installation, testing, and commissioning, with specialized expertise in low voltage (600V and below) electrical power distribution systems, equipment integration, functional performance testing, and operational readiness.

This position requires strong technical knowledge of low voltage electrical infrastructure, industry codes, commissioning protocols, and system turnover requirements. The SME must demonstrate excellent problem-solving abilities, a collaborative mindset, and the ability to manage multiple commissioning priorities in a fast-paced, schedule-driven construction environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, oversee, and execute commissioning activities for low voltage electrical systems (600V and below) throughout the semiconductor fabrication facility.
  • Commission and verify operation of low voltage electrical infrastructure, including:
    • Low voltage switchgear, switchboards, panelboards, and motor control centers (MCCs).
    • Low voltage power distribution systems, transformers, and associated protective devices.
    • Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) systems and Power Distribution Units (PDUs).
    • Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS) and emergency/standby power distribution systems.
    • Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), motor starters, and electrical control panels.
    • Lighting, emergency lighting, and lighting control systems.
    • Grounding, bonding, and electrical protection systems.
    • Low voltage power distribution supporting process equipment, cleanrooms, and critical facility utilities.
    • Electrical monitoring, metering, and control interfaces associated with low voltage infrastructure.
  • Review and interpret electrical drawings, single-line diagrams, schematics, equipment submittals, and project specifications to verify installation and commissioning requirements.
  • Develop, review, and execute commissioning plans, test procedures, functional performance test scripts, and acceptance criteria.
  • Perform and witness electrical testing, including insulation resistance, continuity, grounding verification, protective device testing, and functional performance testing as applicable.
  • Verify proper operation and integration of low voltage systems with facility automation, emergency power, and critical utility infrastructure.
  • Ensure electrical systems comply with applicable NFPA, NEC, NETA, IEEE, OSHA, and client-specific standards.
  • Participate in Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), and Integrated Systems Testing (IST), as required.
  • Coordinate with electrical contractors, design engineers, equipment manufacturers, commissioning teams, and owner representatives to resolve deficiencies and commissioning challenges.
  • Monitor commissioning progress, identify potential schedule impacts, and recommend corrective actions to maintain project milestones.
  • Document commissioning activities, including test results, deficiency reports, punch lists, equipment verification records, and final turnover packages.
  • Verify equipment readiness for energization and support safe electrical startup activities in coordination with authorized personnel.
  • Maintain strict adherence to electrical safety requirements, including NFPA 70E, arc flash protection, energized work restrictions, and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
  • Provide technical leadership, guidance, and mentorship to commissioning engineers, technicians, and supporting contractors.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 8 years of experience in electrical construction, testing, commissioning, or facility startup, with substantial experience in low voltage electrical systems.
  • Strong technical knowledge of 600V-and-below electrical power distribution equipment and associated control systems.
  • Experience commissioning complex industrial facilities, semiconductor fabrication plants, data centers, pharmaceutical facilities, or other advanced manufacturing environments.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of electrical commissioning procedures, functional testing, equipment energization, and system acceptance requirements.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical single-line diagrams, control schematics, and engineering specifications.
  • Familiarity with NFPA 70 (NEC), NFPA 70E, ANSI/NETA standards, and relevant IEEE requirements.
  • Experience coordinating with multidisciplinary construction and commissioning teams.
  • Strong organizational, documentation, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize competing demands, and meet aggressive construction schedules.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous commissioning experience on large-scale semiconductor fabrication projects.
  • Experience with mission-critical electrical distribution and redundant power systems.
  • Familiarity with commissioning management platforms such as CxAlloy and construction management software such as Procore.
  • Experience supporting integrated systems testing, operational readiness, and final facility turnover.
