Technical Writer

Introduction:

We are looking for a Technical Writer to join our team in Silicon Valley on a long-term contract basis. The ideal candidate will have intermediate to senior-level experience, preferably in the range of 7-10+ years, with a strong background in networking equipment such as Cisco switches, IT infrastructure, API''s, and user guide writing. Experience with handling tickets, gathering information from engineers and subject matter experts (SMEs), and final editing with management is crucial for this role.

Responsibilities:

• Take well-scoped documentation tickets and learn the features
• Gather missing details from SMEs and draft customer-facing user guide updates
• Work alongside the Tech Pub Team Lead for project scoping and final editorial quality
• Interview SMEs to gather information and insights
• Execute updates within established style guidelines and structure

Requirements:

Required Skills:

• Solid customer-facing product documentation experience
• Ability to work across different content types
• Strong independent technical-learning ability
• Comfortable working within an established process
• Basic understanding of networking/IT infrastructure concepts

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with structured/topic-based authoring (DITA, DocBook, Paligo, etc.)
• Familiarity with networking equipment and hardware appliances
• Knowledge of APIs and software applications
