Job Overview
As a Data Center Hardware Technician L2, you will independently support server deployment, hardware break/fix, component replacement, configuration, and infrastructure maintenance in a fast-moving data center environment. You will own moderately complex incidents, support junior technicians, identify recurring issues, and contribute practical improvements to procedures and service quality.
Engagement Overview
This position is intended for candidates who live within commuting distance of Columbus, Georgia, or can relocate independently. The initial customer assignment is expected to be a limited engagement of approximately 90 days. Based on customer need, individual performance, and mutual agreement, the assignment may be extended or may create an opportunity to convert to the customer’s workforce. Extension and conversion are not guaranteed.

How You Will Make an Impact
  • Install, deploy, replace, and decommission server hardware and related data center equipment in accordance with approved procedures.
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware incidents and service requests within assigned priorities, timelines, and escalation requirements.
  • Perform approved device and system configuration activities and complete pre-work and post-work quality checks.
  • Document troubleshooting, parts used, work completed, validation results, and follow-up actions in the designated ticketing system.
  • Follow approved standard operating procedures and methods of procedure, escalating unclear instructions, service risks, and conditions outside the documented process.
  • Own service tickets of moderate complexity from initial diagnosis through resolution, validation, documentation, and handoff.
  • Troubleshoot server hardware, Linux operating-system, connectivity, and component-level issues using approved diagnostic methods and available technical data.
  • Serve as an escalation resource for L1 technicians and support peer development through hands-on guidance and constructive feedback.
  • Identify recurring incidents and process gaps, and contribute practical updates to SOPs, MOPs, troubleshooting guides, and the knowledge base.
  • Assist site leads with ticket prioritization and work coordination when requested.
  • Report reliably to the Columbus worksite and maintain consistent onsite coverage for the assigned schedule.
  • Build working knowledge of the local environment and contribute to continuity as the customer transitions and scales operations.
  • Maintain accurate asset and inventory records and coordinate with logistics personnel regarding parts movement and spare consumption.
  • Comply with environmental health and safety requirements and apply 5S principles to maintain an organized, clean, and efficient work environment.
  • Communicate professionally with customer stakeholders, teammates, site leadership, and cross-functional technical groups.
What You Will Need to Succeed
  • 3+ years of hands-on computer or server hardware break-fix experience in a data center environment.
  • 3+ years of experience working with Linux-based systems, including command-line troubleshooting.
  • Intermediate knowledge of server architecture, component diagnostics, hardware replacement, cabling, and structured troubleshooting.
  • Proficiency with service management or ticketing systems and accurate technical documentation.
  • Ability to interpret and apply SOPs and MOPs, identify process gaps, and recommend practical updates.
  • Ability to coach and support less-experienced technicians without direct supervisory responsibility.
  • Residence within practical commuting distance of Columbus, Georgia, or the ability to relocate independently before the assignment begins.
  • Reliable transportation and the ability to report onsite for the assigned schedule.
  • Availability for a rapid start and the full anticipated 90-day engagement.
  • Flexibility to participate in a planned on-call rotation, maintenance window, or after-hours response when required by the customer.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to provide clear and concise work updates.
  • Customer-focused approach, professional judgment, and a strong sense of ownership for work quality.
  • Ability to work independently within assigned responsibilities, contribute as a proactive team member, manage multiple priorities, and maintain attention to detail.
  • Working knowledge of collaboration and productivity tools such as Slack, Microsoft Teams, Jira, Google Workspace, and Microsoft Office.
