Job Summary
The 5-axis CNC Setup Machinist to set up, prove out, and run complex machined parts. milling machines, secondary equipment, and grinders, to machine metallic and nonmetallic workpieces by performing a variety of duties
Day Shift Hours: 7:00am – 3:30pm, Monday – Friday
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Set up and operate 5-axis CNC mills equipped with Siemens controls, including fixtures, tools, work offsets, and probing routines.
- Read drawings, specifications, setup sheets, and CNC programs to plan each setup.
- Load and prove out programs using safe practices, including simulation, single block, and controlled first runs as appropriate.
- Measure first pieces and in-process parts using calipers, micrometers, indicators, height gauges, and other inspection equipment.
- Make tool offset and approved program adjustments to maintain dimensions and improve consistency.
- Identify and resolve setup, tooling, work holding, program, and machining issues.
- Document setup details, tool changes, and process improvements for repeat jobs.
- Work with quality, Supervisor and production to address problems and keep jobs moving.
- Maintain a clean, safe work area and care for machines, tooling, and fixtures.
- Additional responsibilities assigned by the supervisor may include department transfers to meet production needs.
Required Skills & Attributes
- Demonstrated experience setting up and proving out 5-axis CNC machining centers.
- Hands-on experience with Siemens CNC controls.
- Strong ability to read complex blueprints and understand GD&T.
- Experience selecting tools, establishing work offsets, and troubleshooting machining processes.
- Ability to inspect parts accurately and work independently from setup through first-piece approval.
- Experience in machining tight-tolerance parts; aerospace manufacturing experience is preferred.
- Strong work ethic: Willing to work OT to meet tight deadlines as needed
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or GED.
- 3+ years of experience
- Machining apprenticeship, technical certificate, or associate degree in machining or manufacturing technology preferred, but equivalent hands-on experience is accepted.
- Training or demonstrated experience with Siemens CNC controls required (preferably 840D or Sinumerik One).
- Additional training in 5-axis machining, blueprint reading, GD&T, and inspection methods is a plus.
- Tolerance: Ability to machine parts to +/- 0.0005”.
- Ability to read and interpret GD&T blueprints to the needed specification in creating a part.
Physical Job Requirements
- Regularly required to stand and reach the duration of shift, 8-10 hours.
- Occasionally required to walk, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or bend.
- Frequently required to perform repetitive or short-cycle work.
- Regularly lift, push, or pull up to 10 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
- Understands and observes all necessary safety procedures: safety glasses, shoes, ear protection, machine interlocks, lifting guidelines, etc. as designated in specific work area assigned.

Compensation: $26-34 per hour
