Position Type: Full-Time
Rate: $31.55/hour
Schedule: Shift-based flexibility required (Early Mornings, Evenings, Overnights, and/or Weekends based on testing missions)

Job Overview
We are seeking a disciplined, proactive, and safety-focused Autonomous Vehicle QA Test Technician to support vehicle readiness, execute software and hardware test missions, and help maintain rigorous safety standards across our fleet. In this role, you will perform structured hardware/software testing, analyze system logs, and document technical bugs in Jira.
Working closely with cross-functional engineering teams-including Computer Vision, Infrastructure, Sound Design, Vehicle Engineering, and Ride Operations-you will help identify defects, validate system fixes, and accelerate autonomous technology deployment.
Key Responsibilities
  • Vehicle & Mission Readiness: Execute pre-mission prep procedures, launching software across multiple embedded vehicle devices, verifying software/hardware configurations, and confirming operational safety.
  • Software & Hardware QA Testing: Support test missions in various roles inside and outside the vehicle, executing software test protocols, system checks, and sensor data collection runs.
  • Defect & Ticket Management: Identify, log, and triage newly discovered hardware or software bugs in Jira, providing clear, reproducible steps and context to engineering teams.
  • Log Analysis & Root Cause Triage: Review vehicle logs and telemetry using internal diagnostic tools to trace system faults, isolate failure modes, and support root cause analysis.
  • Cross-Functional Communication: Deliver clear written and verbal feedback to engineering teams, tracking issues from initial discovery through re-test and validation.
  • Documentation & Safety: Complete vehicle readiness checklists, log operational metrics, and strictly uphold safety protocols during field and lab operations.
Qualifications & Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Experience: 2+ years of hands-on experience in vehicle testing, complex hardware/software QA, or system-level integration testing.
  • Transferable Industry Backgrounds: Candidates with testing/QA experience in Autonomous Vehicles, Robotics, Aerospace, Defense, Telecom/Embedded Hardware, Consumer Electronics, or Heavy Industrial Automation are highly encouraged to apply.
  • Defect Management Tools: Proficient in issue-tracking and workflow tools such as Jira, Confluence, Azure DevOps, or TestRail.
  • Technical Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to describe technical defects clearly to software and hardware engineers.
  • Problem-Solving & Work Style: Proactive, detail-oriented mindset with the ability to remain focused during dynamic, high-pressure test scenarios.
  • Schedule Flexibility: Willingness and ability to work flexible shift schedules (early mornings, evenings, overnights, or weekends) driven by mission demands.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Basic scripting capabilities in Python, Bash, or another language for automated testing or log processing.
  • Familiarity with vehicle communication protocols (CAN bus, Automotive Ethernet, LIN, FlexRay).
  • Understanding of basic software QA methodologies, Linux environment navigation, or log-parsing tools.
