Job description

The ideal candidate should have a strong software engineering foundation, be comfortable working across software, networking, configuration, and hardware layers, and be capable of independently investigating complex integration issues.

Key Responsibilities
• Perform system-level, functional, integration, and regression testing on Linux-based platforms.
• Develop and maintain automated test scripts and frameworks using Python.
• Execute tests on physical hardware racks and integrated lab environments.
• Troubleshoot failures across software, networking, configuration, and hardware components.
• Analyze logs, system behavior, network connectivity, and test results to identify root causes.
• Configure and validate network settings, including IP addressing, DHCP, DNS, gateways, and connectivity.
• Work closely with developers and integration teams to reproduce, isolate, and resolve defects.
• Maintain test cases, automation scripts, defect reports, and test execution results.
• Support software deployments, configuration changes, and integration validation in lab environments.
• Contribute to improving test coverage, automation reliability, and troubleshooting efficiency.

Must-Have Technical Skills:

1. Linux & System Troubleshooting
• Strong hands-on Linux command-line experience.
• Comfortable with shell commands, processes, services, permissions, logs, and system configuration.
• Ability to diagnose system failures independently.

2. Python & Test Automation
• Good Python programming and scripting skills.
• Experience developing automation scripts for test execution, validation, and reporting.
• Familiarity with pytest or similar test frameworks.
• Ability to read, understand, and debug existing code.

3. Networking Fundamentals
• Strong understanding of TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, IP addressing, subnet masks, gateways, and ports.
• Hands-on experience troubleshooting connectivity and network configuration issues.
• Familiarity with tools such as ping, traceroute, netstat/ss, tcpdump, and SSH.

4. System & Integration Testing
• Experience with functional, integration, regression, and system-level testing.
• Ability to design and execute test scenarios across multiple integrated components.
• Strong defect isolation, root-cause analysis, and debugging skills.

5. Database & Scripting Fundamentals
• Basic SQL knowledge, preferably MySQL.
• Experience with Bash, shell scripting, or similar scripting languages.
• Ability to query databases and validate system data when required.

6. Lab & Hardware Integration
• Willingness and ability to work directly with physical hardware racks.
• Comfortable with device configuration, software deployment, remote access, and
hardware/software integration testing.
• Ability to investigate failures that may originate from software, networking,
configuration, or hardware.

Preferred Skills
• Experience with embedded systems, Android/Linux platforms, or connected devices.
• Experience with aviation, automotive, telecommunications, or other hardware integrated systems.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automated regression testing.
• Experience with REST API testing and tools such as Postman.
• Familiarity with firmware validation, device logs, and remote test execution.
• Experience with Jira or similar defect-tracking tools.

Candidate Expectations
• Strong technical fundamentals and practical troubleshooting ability.
• Hands-on engineering mindset rather than purely manual QA experience.
• Ability to learn unfamiliar systems and technologies quickly.
• Comfortable working independently in a complex integration environment.
• Clear technical communication and collaboration with development teams.
• Availability to work onsite five days per week in the PAC lab.

Ideal Candidate Background
Engineers with experience in Linux-based system testing, Python automation, network troubleshooting, hardware/software integration, or embedded platform validation.
Candidates with a software development or automation background who have transitioned into integration/system testing are particularly relevant.
