Job Description

We are seeking an enthusiastic, team-orientated Equine Nurse to join our team at Fyrnwy Equine Clinic on a full-time basis.

You'll become part of a highly experienced and collaborative team of 18 equine veterinary surgeons working across our two fully integrated sites, supported by 11 nursing, technical and administrative colleagues.Our dedicated nursing team includes two other Registered Equine Veterinary Nurses, one Student Veterinary Nurse, and four VCA/Yard Technicians.

An RCVS-approved Veterinary Nurse Training Practice committed to developing the next generation of equine professionals.

Our hospital is fully equipped including; orthopaedic, soft tissue, arthroscopy, class IV laser, standing and general anaesthetic theatres.

How You’ll Make a Difference

As a Registered Veterinary Nurse, you will be an integral member of the clinical team, delivering high-quality nursing care to patients while supporting excellent client experiences.

You’ll work collaboratively with veterinary surgeons and the wider practice team, taking responsibility for the nursing care of a range of first-opinion cases, contributing to clinical standards, and supporting the ongoing development of patient care within the practice.

This role offers a varied caseload within hospital and ambulatory practice.  

Working Pattern

* 40 hours per week
* 1 in 5 nights and 1 in 5 weekends 

General Responsibilities

* Exceptionally high standards across the yard, clinical areas, laboratory and surgical suites to include; clinical hygiene, infection prevention control and stock management
* Surgery - Assist with general anaesthesia along side our Veterinary Surgeons, set up the operating theatre, prepare and sterilise surgical equipment, scrub in as a surgical assist. 
* Inpatient and outpatient- All aspects of nursing care for our day and hospitalised patients 
* Ambulatory - Assist Vets with their consultations and lameness assessment.

You Might Be a Great Fit If...

We’re looking for a confident and motivated Equine Nurse who enjoys working as part of a team and delivering high standards of care. You’ll bring:

* Registration as a Veterinary Nurse with the RCVS
* Equine Veterinary Nurse with MRI Licence or experience or a keen interest to become licensed to acquire MRI imaging
* Live within 30 minutes of our Hospital in Baschurch for out-of-hours work
* Experience working in clinical practice, with growing confidence in medical and surgical nursing
* Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with clients and colleagues
* Good organisational skills and the ability to manage workload effectively
* A proactive approach to learning, reflection, and continuous improvement
