Role: Python Backend Engineer

Job Description:

We are looking for a Backend Engineer with 1+ years of experience to join a small, elite engineering team building the infrastructure behind 400+ real-life social experiences per month. You'll be exceptionally sharp, love deeply technical work, and thrive on taking systems from zero to scale — helping 222 turn chance encounters into lasting human connections.

What will you be doing?

• Building the backend for a new concierge product — scraping, caching, and parsing real-world data (restaurants, events, shows) to match members' tastes end-to-end
• Designing data models and APIs for a self-hosted party/event tool so members can reconnect and host within their communities
• Setting up backend infrastructure for voice and video data collection to improve matching models
• Improving internal automations and tooling (e.g., Stripe migrations, subscription/payment flows)
• Making architecture and infrastructure decisions to keep the stack performant and intuitive as the product scales

Role Requirements

• Backend Engineer needed to support increased frontend capabilities.
• Responsibilities include backend development for party tools, data scraping, and internal automation improvements.

Candidate Requirements

• No strict experience floor; emphasis on mental sharpness and building intelligence.
• Open to candidates from both startups and big tech with strong technical abilities.

Technical Requirements

• Current tech stack includes Python, FastAPI, and PostgreSQL.
• Flexible with candidates who have not previously worked with Python.

Ideal Candidate Profile

• Experience with core systems teams or extensive independent project work preferred.
• Interest in deeply technical work, such as compilers, is a plus.

Work experience

·         Experience on a core systems,​ core transactions,​ or core infrastructure team at a prominent tech company
