Job Description

Systems Engineer Lead | Hampton, VA, United States | On-site | $75,866.00 - $108,381.00

This employer is a leading defense technology company that designs, develops, and operates advanced solutions, playing a critical role in national security. They are known for their expertise in Live, Virtual, and Constructive (LVC) environments and their long-standing partnership with military customers.

The Role

  • Serve as the technical team lead and Subject Matter Expert (SME) for training events, communicating technical issues and new requirements to leadership.
  • Plan, de-conflict, and manage resources to support the planning, testing, and execution of training events.
  • Coordinate with operators, engineers, and training teams to plan systems and personnel support for events, adjusting work hours as needed for global operations.
  • Lead the technical team in adhering to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), recommending changes, and developing new SOPs.
  • Support event testing and execution of training events as the technical lead.
  • Maintain and enhance modeling and simulation tools to align with current military capabilities and doctrine.
  • Utilize collaboration tools to share schedules and documents, and to track and report issues to stakeholders.

What You'll Need

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field with 2 years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree with 0 years of experience, or a High School Diploma/equivalent with 6 years of relevant experience.
  • Professional certification in Linux and/or Microsoft.
  • Security+ certification.
  • Hold and maintain a U.S. Top Secret clearance.
  • Familiarity with networking concepts, architectures, and protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, UDP).
  • Knowledge of distributed simulation protocols such as High Level Architecture (HLA) and Distributed Interactive Simulation (DIS).
  • Military experience and experience with Joint Live Virtual Constructive (JLVC) supported events.
  • Technical leadership skills and strong written and verbal communication skills.
