Job Description
What you'll do
- Review completed title and pre-exchange checklists on residential purchase (and related) matters, and sign them off where the work meets the required standard
- Identify gaps, risks and issues on title, defective title, restrictive covenants, easements, boundary questions, leasehold concerns, and flag what needs resolving before sign-off
- Act as a go-to point of reference for the case-handling team on title queries
- Help us keep raising the quality and consistency of how title is reviewed across the firm
What we're looking for
- A qualified conveyancer, Licensed Conveyancer (CLC), Solicitor (SRA) or Chartered Legal Executive (CILEX) with a residential conveyancing specialism — holding a current practising status
- Strong, hands-on residential title experience across freehold, leasehold, new-build and (ideally) unregistered titles
- Sound working knowledge of title investigation, Land Registry practice, SDLT and the Law Society Conveyancing Protocol
- The confidence to make sign-off decisions independently — and to say clearly when something isn't right
- Excellent people skills, a clear communicator, easy to work with, and happy to be a helpful, calming point of contact for the wider team
- Accurate and efficient, comfortable working at pace without dropping quality
- Committed to working within SRA / CLC regulatory standards
How it works
- Self-employed / consultant basis — you invoice us for the work you do
- £1,500 retainer covering 75 files (confirm period — e.g. monthly), including title checklist and pre-exchange checklist sign-off on each file
- £20 per file above 75 — for each additional file you sign off beyond the retainer
- Based at our Paddington office (Merchant Square, W2) (state any hybrid/remote flexibility, or confirm office-based)
