Senior C++ Software Engineer - Biomedical Big Data Rockville, MD / Onsite Blu Omega is seeking a Senior C++ Software Engineer to support our client's biomedical big data initiatives. This role is responsible for developing, maintaining, and advancing solutions that facilitate biological data analysis and storage within a federal research environment. Program Overview Support the development of tools and infrastructure for managing large-scale biomedical sequencing data.

• Develop, implement, test, and maintain the VDB Library, the SRA Toolkit, and related projects.
• Contribute to the development of cloud-ready tools and pipelines to support scalable and reliable data access and processing.
• Learn new technologies, manage internal systems, and share knowledge with team members.
• Lead other developers in project tasks. Required Qualifications
• 5+ years of experience with object-oriented programming using C++.
• Programming experience in Linux environments.
• Experience with cloud technologies: AWS (EC2, S3, Lambda), GCP (GKE, Cloud functions).
• Proficiency in scripting languages such as Bash, Perl, or Python.
• Ability to work with JSON and similar structured document formats.
• Experience with network programming and multi-threading.
• Knowledge of SQL and relational databases.
• Familiarity with open source projects and Agile methodologies.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, unit testing, and integration testing. Bonus Qualifications
• Experience working with genetic and biological data.
• Active involvement in open source communities (GitHub, etc.).
• Multi-platform development experience (POSIX, WinAPI).
• Containerization experience (Docker).
• Familiarity with parsing tools (flex/bison) and developing domain-specific languages.

Compensation Salary Range: $130,000.00 - $150,000.00 Final compensation is based on technical skills, experience, education, certifications, and clearance.
