Description

RFID Solution Architecture

Responsibilities

Own end to end technical design for our Client's customer implementations

Lead technical due diligence for new opportunities before commercial commitment

Translate customer business problems into practical RFID and traceability architectures

Determine solution feasibility, system boundaries, assumptions, constraints, dependencies, and technical risks

Define the recommended technology stack for each use case, including RFID frequency, tag class, reader architecture, antenna strategy, edge devices, connectivity, and infrastructure

Determine when RFID is the right technology and when BLE, barcode, vision, RTLS, sensing, or a hybrid architecture is more appropriate

Design the complete ecosystem across tags, readers, antennas, portals, handhelds, printers, gateways, networks, software, data, and enterprise integrations

RFID Hardware and Site Engineering

Lead hardware selection including RFID labels and inlays, fixed readers, handheld readers, antennas, portals, printers, sensors, gateways, and supporting infrastructure

Evaluate tag type, frequency, placement, orientation, read range, material interference, environmental conditions, movement, density, shielding, and expected read performance

Conduct site surveys, read zone analysis, RF testing, proof of concepts, hardware validation, and performance testing

Design solutions for challenging environments including metal, liquids, stacked product, hidden inventory, dense pallets, warehouses, production areas, staging areas, and loading docks

Own vendor and hardware evaluation, qualification, testing, and standardization across the TraceCor ecosystem

Maintain approved hardware, tag, reader, antenna, and infrastructure standards for repeatable deployments

Understand regional RFID frequency requirements, regulatory constraints, certification requirements, and hardware compatibility for deployments across different markets

Build and maintain a TraceCor test environment for validating tags, readers, antennas, configurations, hardware, and customer use cases before field deployment

Requirements

5+ years of hands-on experience in architecture, design, or implementation of RFID, industrial IoT, automation, or traceability solutions.

At least 7 years of hands-on experience developing and deploying technical solutions in operational environments is strongly preferred.

Demonstrated success delivering RFID initiatives from discovery and site evaluation through design, testing, launch, and post-deployment support.

Strong understanding of RF principles, tag and inlay selection, antenna configuration, fixed and handheld readers, printers, portals, and read-zone optimization.

Experience working in manufacturing, automotive, warehousing, logistics, distribution, food production, or similar industrial settings.

Ability to translate business requirements into clear technical architectures and make sound decisions around feasibility, risk, and system design.

Familiarity with automation concepts, digital documentation, and enterprise-integrated solution design is beneficial.

Technical

Ability to diagnose RFID performance issues involving materials, orientation, interference, shielding, density, distance, and environmental conditions

Working knowledge of enterprise integrations, APIs, networking, databases, middleware, and common ERP or operational systems

Ability to produce solution architecture, site layouts, technical requirements, bills of material, testing plans, and implementation documentation

Experience with major RFID ecosystems such as Zebra, Impinj, HID, Avery Dennison, or comparable technologies is strongly preferred

Customer and Execution

Strong consultative presence with the ability to walk into a customer site, ask the right questions, and independently determine what is needed

Able to explain complex technical decisions clearly to executives, operations teams, engineers, developers, and customer stakeholders

Bias for action, strong judgment, and the ability to solve ambiguous field problems without constant direction

Comfortable traveling to customer sites for discovery, testing, pilots, implementation, and troubleshooting as required

Education

Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, industrial engineering, automation, or related technical field preferred

Equivalent deep industry experience in RFID solution architecture and deployment will be considered
