Job Description
The Field Quality Technician performs repeatable visual and measured inspections of installed solar panels on an outdoor construction project. Working from established inspection criteria, the technician completes scheduled and random checks, uses basic measuring tools to verify installation quality, and records inspection results electronically.
This position is best suited for someone who is capable, confident, self-directed, and comfortable completing repeatable daily tasks with limited supervision. Inspection procedures and project-specific training will be provided. No electrical work or previous solar installation experience is required.
This is a six-month temporary position.
- Complete assigned daily inspections independently and consistently.
- Perform repeatable visual and measured inspections using established procedures.
- Conduct random visual checks throughout the project site.
- Inspect installed solar panels to verify compliance with specified quality and installation requirements.
- Use a digital level and tape measure to take and verify measurements.
- Record inspection results accurately using a tablet and designated software.
- Recognize results that fall outside established requirements and report them promptly.
- Maintain consistent inspection quality throughout the workday.
- Ask questions or seek clarification when inspection results or requirements are unclear.
- Follow all project safety requirements and wear required personal protective equipment.
Qualifications:
- Capable, confident, and comfortable working independently with limited supervision.
- Self-directed and able to manage a daily workload of repeatable inspection tasks.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to consistent, accurate results.
- Comfortable using digital levels, tape measure, tablet, and basic technology.
- Able to learn and consistently apply defined inspection procedures.
- Comfortable documenting findings and reporting potential quality concerns.
- Dependable, organized, and able to complete assigned work on schedule.
- Previous construction, manufacturing, inspection, or quality experience is helpful but not required.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Work Environment
- Work is performed primarily outdoors on a large solar construction project.
- Must be comfortable working in changing weather conditions.
- Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods and move across uneven terrain.
- Must be able to bend, reach, and position measuring tools as required.
- Must be able to wear all required personal protective equipment.
