Network Field Engineer

The IT Services Field Engineer provides onsite and remote technical support to clients and internal teams. This role is responsible for device provisioning, workstation deployments, basic network installations, structured rack-and-stack activities, and support of Help Desk operations. The ideal candidate is customer-focused, eager to learn, and capable of following documented procedures while escalating complex issues to senior engineers.

Responsibilities

• Provide onsite and remote technical support for desktops, laptops, mobile devices, printers, and peripheral equipment.
• Assist the Help Desk team with incident resolution, troubleshooting, and service request fulfillment.
• Provision, configure, deploy, and document user devices according to company standards.
• Install, label, and organize equipment in network racks following documented rack-and-stack procedures.
• Perform basic switch deployments and standardized switch configurations using approved templates and procedures.
• Assist with network equipment installations, cable management, patching, and connectivity verification.
• Execute hardware refreshes, workstation replacements, and office technology moves, adds, and changes.
• Document completed work, asset information, and configuration details accurately within ticketing systems.
• Escalate complex networking, server, security, or infrastructure issues to senior engineering staff.
• Follow established security, compliance, and change management procedures.
• Work collaboratively with Service Desk, Project Management, and Engineering teams to deliver client projects.
• Provide professional customer service during onsite and remote interactions.
• Participate in training and professional development to expand technical knowledge and certifications.

Desired Qualifications

Required

• 1-3 years of experience in IT support, technical support, field services, or Help Desk environments.
• Basic understanding of computer hardware, operating systems, and networking concepts.
• Familiarity with Windows operating systems and Microsoft 365 applications.
• Experience setting up desktops, laptops, monitors, printers, and mobile devices.
• Ability to follow documented procedures and technical work instructions.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks while maintaining attention to detail.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel to customer sites as required.
• Ability to lift and install equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.

Preferred

• Associate degree in Information Technology, Computer Networking, or related field.
• CompTIA A+, Network+, or equivalent technical certification.
• Exposure to basic networking concepts such as:
  • IP addressing
  • Switching
  • Wireless networking
  • VLANs
  • DNS and DHCP
• Experience with ticketing systems such as ConnectWise, ServiceNow, Jira, or similar platforms.
• Familiarity with structured cabling, patch panels, and data center best practices.
• Experience imaging devices and deploying standard workstation configurations.
