Job Description

Vacancy for Technical Analyst at National Film and Sound Archive of Australia

26 July 2023

$107,660.00 - $115,154.00

Fixed Term

The National Film and Sound Archive of Australia (NFSA) is Australia's audiovisual cultural institution. The NFSA collection includes over 4 million items such as films, television and radio programs, videos, audio recordings, and video games. The collection also features contextual materials like costumes, scripts, props, artefacts, photographs, and promotional materials. Public programs and services ensure the collection is accessible for enjoyment, learning, research, and reuse by creators. In the digital age, the NFSA's stories will be increasingly available nationwide and on demand, aligned with NFSAStrategic Direction 2022-25.

The Technical Analyst will report directly to the Senior Manager, Program Management Office (PMO), and collaborate within the Digital branch as part of a high-performing project delivery team. The Digital branch designs, builds, and maintains digital infrastructure and public-facing experiences that facilitate innovative ways to manage, analyze, discover, and engage with the NFSA's audiovisual collection.

The Technical Analyst will work alongside technical specialists and managers, supporting multi-departmental technical requirements definition and management, systems and software design, feasibility assessments, and process improvements. Responsibilities include analytical and requirements coordination tasks in business-as-usual and project activities, fostering collaborative opportunities between the Digital branch and internal/external stakeholders, and providing documentation and solution design support to the PMO's project operations.

Our ideal candidate will possess strong skills in systems and software design, feasibility assessment, and requirements management, with the ability to provide expert advice on enterprise systems and, ideally, on specialized systems such as archival, preservation, scanning, streaming, or audiovisual systems. The candidate should have robust technical knowledge, analytical and communication skills, and high attention to detail to manage and prioritize conflicting demands and deliver technical analyses on time. You will be a results-oriented collaborator capable of producing comprehensive technical documentation, advice, and recommendations.

This role requires working collaboratively with NFSA staff, technical specialists, and creative talent. The successful candidate will have tertiary qualifications and experience in providing strategic advice and recommendations to meet diverse business needs. A positive attitude, efficiency, integrity, and the ability to support colleagues in meeting project deadlines while maintaining high standards are essential. You will contribute to multiple projects of moderate complexity and difficulty, demonstrating flexibility and professionalism in your work.
