What you'll be doing

• Interpret engineering drawings and prepare plate materials using cutting and grinding methods.
• Assemble ship structures, ensuring accurate fitting and tack-welding of components.
• Fabricate various ship items, including seating, flooring, panels, and watertight doors.
• Form materials using machine tools such as rolling, flanging, and cutting equipment.

What You'll Need

• Modern Apprenticeship certificate or Trade Papers, plus relevant mechanical qualifications (e.g., SVQ3, City & Guilds, or equivalent).
• Proven fabrication knowledge and hands-on experience in construction or manufacturing.
• Understanding and application of core manufacturing processes, including tack welding to safety and quality standards.
• Confident operation of oxy-fuel and/or plasma cutting equipment.
• Adherence to SHE principles and risk-assessment requirements.
• Experience working safely in confined spaces or at height, with relevant safety certifications.
