Job Description

Field Service Engineer

Location: South Central England | A34 Corridor (Andover, Basingstoke, Newbury, Reading, Oxford)
Hours: Monday to Friday, Days
Salary: £40,000 - £45,000 + Profit-Related Bonus
Benefits: Company Vehicle & Fuel Card + Bonus + Health & Wellbeing Cash Plan + Pension

Are you a multi-skilled engineer based around the A34 corridor, looking for something different from working on the same production line, factory or site every day?

Perhaps you're already a Field Service Engineer, or you're an experienced Maintenance Engineer looking to take your electrical and mechanical skills into a field-based role where you'll work independently, visit a variety of industrial sites and develop specialist knowledge within water treatment.

Yolk Recruitment is supporting an established and growing engineering business specialising in industrial water treatment and process systems. Due to continued growth, they are looking for an experienced Field Service Engineer to strengthen their coverage across South Central England.

You do not need to come from the water treatment industry.

Experience with reverse osmosis, water treatment or process utilities would certainly be advantageous, but the priority is finding a strong, practical electrical/mechanical engineer who can fault-find, work independently and confidently deal with customers.

Engineers from manufacturing, FMCG, utilities, pumps, facilities, chemical/process environments and industrial field service backgrounds are all of interest.

What you'll be doing

Working from home and travelling directly to customer sites, you'll take responsibility for the servicing, maintenance, fault-finding and commissioning of industrial water treatment equipment.

Your role will include:

  • Carrying out planned and reactive maintenance across industrial customer sites.

  • Electrical and mechanical fault-finding on pumps, motors, valves, pipework, control systems and associated equipment.

  • Servicing and troubleshooting reverse osmosis (RO) plants, water softeners, deionisation systems, filtration equipment and effluent treatment plants.

  • Supporting the installation, testing and commissioning of new equipment and systems.

  • Diagnosing electrical, mechanical and process-related faults to restore equipment to operation.

  • Working with customers and plant operators to identify problems and provide practical engineering solutions.

  • Completing service reports and accurately documenting maintenance and repair work.

  • Identifying opportunities to improve equipment reliability, efficiency and performance.

  • Managing your own workload and representing the business professionally on customer sites.

Full training and technical support will be available to engineers transferring from other industrial maintenance or field service backgrounds.

What we're looking for

We're interested in speaking with engineers who have:

  • A strong electrical and mechanical engineering background, ideally gained within industrial maintenance, manufacturing, process engineering or field service.

  • A recognised engineering qualification or relevant practical engineering experience.

  • Hands-on experience maintaining, servicing and fault-finding on industrial machinery or equipment.

  • Good knowledge of equipment such as pumps, motors, valves, pipework, electrical controls, hydraulics or pneumatic systems.

  • The confidence to investigate and diagnose faults independently, rather than simply replacing components.

  • Good communication skills and the ability to deal directly with customers.

  • A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to customer sites.

  • Ideally, a home location around the A34 corridor, including Andover, Basingstoke, Newbury, Reading, Didcot, Oxford and surrounding areas.

Previous experience with water treatment, reverse osmosis, filtration or process utilities would be advantageous, but is not essential.

What's in it for you?

This is an opportunity to take your existing engineering skills into a specialist and growing industry, with the training and support to develop expertise in industrial water treatment.

You'll receive:

  • £40,000 - £45,000 basic salary

  • Profit-Related Bonus Scheme

  • Company Vehicle & Fuel Card

  • Health & Wellbeing Cash Plan

  • Workplace Pension

  • Specialist technical training and ongoing development

  • Home-based field service position

  • Monday to Friday working hours

  • Varied engineering work across industrial customer sites

  • Long-term career opportunities within an established and growing business

For an engineer who enjoys fault-finding, likes being trusted to manage their own day and wants more variety than a traditional site-based maintenance position, this could be an excellent next move.
