Senior Heavy Diesel & Equipment Mechanic

Qualifications and responsibilities for this Senior Heavy Diesel & Equipment Mechanic position include: 10+ years of heavy diesel and construction equipment repair experience preferred, with strong independent diagnostic and troubleshooting abilities.

Experience servicing Class 8 and vocational trucks, excavators, dozers, loaders, skid steers, backhoes, and other heavy construction equipment. Advanced knowledge of diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, brakes, and fuel systems, including the ability to interpret wiring diagrams and hydraulic schematics. Proficiency in diagnosing modern diesel emissions systems, including DPF, DEF/SCR, EGR, regeneration, sensor failures, and engine derates using diagnostic software and scan tools.

Diagnose, repair, and maintain heavy-duty trucks and construction equipment, performing preventive maintenance, major component repairs, and occasional field service calls. Independently troubleshoot complex electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical issues, taking ownership of repairs from initial diagnosis through completion. Maintain accurate repair documentation, communicate parts requirements and expected downtime, and prioritize safe, efficient equipment operation.

Valid driver's license with a good driving record and ownership of basic hand tools required; welding, fabrication skills, and CDL are a plus.

Salary: $24 - $30 per hour, commensurate with experience, with higher compensation available for exceptionally qualified candidates.
