Role Summary
A highly skilled Data Center Technician (Level 3) is responsible for supporting the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and optimization of enterprise-scale data center infrastructure. This role demands extensive technical expertise and the ability to operate independently in a fast-paced, mission-critical environment, ensuring operational excellence through proficient hardware management and team collaboration.
Responsibilities
- Install, configure, troubleshoot, and decommission enterprise server, storage, and network hardware components.
- Perform advanced rack and stack activities, including rail installation, structured cabling, power distribution, and hardware integration.
- Diagnose and resolve hardware failures involving servers, GPUs, storage systems, networking equipment, and infrastructure.
- Execute firmware updates, BIOS configuration changes, hardware replacements, and perform system validation.
- Support large-scale hardware deployments, refreshes, migrations, and expansion projects.
- Conduct root cause analysis on infrastructure issues and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Monitor data center health, environmental conditions, and equipment status utilizing DCIM and monitoring tools.
- Follow established operational procedures, change management processes, and documentation standards.
- Collaborate with engineering, operations, networking, facilities, logistics, and vendor teams to resolve complex technical issues.
- Mentor L1 and L2 technicians by providing technical guidance, training, and escalation support.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience supporting enterprise or hyperscale data center environments.
- Strong knowledge of x86 server architecture, GPU-based systems, storage platforms, and enterprise networking equipment.
- Proven experience with rack and stack deployments.
- Skilled in structured copper and fiber cabling procedures.
- Hands-on experience with server diagnostics and hardware repair.
- Familiarity with power distribution systems (PDUs).
- Proficiency with remote management tools such as iLO, iDRAC, IPMI, or Redfish.
- Understanding of Layer 1 and basic Layer 2 networking concepts.
- Ability to interpret rack elevations, network diagrams, cable matrices, and technical documentation.
- Working knowledge of Linux operating systems and command-line troubleshooting.
- Experience using ITSM platforms such as ServiceNow or Jira.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and organizational skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Publishing Pay Range: $46.72 - $49.93 hourly
This position is based in office and requires employee to work on-site.
