Job Description

Position: Senior Manager – Credit Risk

Location: Oman

Our client, a leading financial institution in Oman, is looking to appoint an experienced Senior Manager – Credit Risk to join its Risk function.

Due to localisation, this is open to Omani Nationals Only

This is a senior credit risk role with responsibility for assessing and approving credit proposals across Corporate and Retail portfolios, ensuring appropriate risk assessment, adherence to credit policies and procedures, and maintaining a strong credit risk environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess and approve credit proposals within delegated authority

• Evaluate credit exposure, financial strength, cash flows, security, industry and country risks

• Review and challenge credit proposals and recommend approval, decline or additional structuring/security where appropriate

• Ensure compliance with approved credit risk policies, procedures and regulatory requirements

• Monitor and manage credit risk within the bank’s overall risk appetite

• Work closely with Relationship Managers and business units to ensure timely processing of credit requests

• Identify weaknesses and ensure appropriate remedial action following assessments, audits or examinations

• Contribute to the continuous improvement of credit risk processes, methodologies and best practices

• Support the development of KPIs and service standards within the Credit Risk function

• Lead, coach and develop team members and promote a strong risk culture

• Maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders, Compliance, Audit and regulatory authorities

Experience & Qualifications

• Omani national

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Banking, Economics, Mathematics, Business Administration or a related discipline

• Master’s degree and/or professional qualifications such as CFA, PRM or CPA would be advantageous

• Minimum 8 years’ banking experience , including at least 2 years in a supervisory Credit Risk role

• Strong experience in credit assessment and credit risk methodologies within a major bank

• Strong understanding of banking products, financial analysis, credit risk frameworks and regulatory requirements

• Knowledge of Basel frameworks and credit modelling methodologies

• Excellent analytical, quantitative and research skills

• Experience working with complex data and financial information

• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills

• English language proficiency is essential; Arabic would be advantageous

• Ability to lead and work effectively with teams from diverse cultural backgrounds
