Position: Mobile SDET (iOS)

Location: Columbus, OH or Newport Beach, CA

Work Arrangement: Hybrid, 4 days onsite per week

Position Summary

We are seeking a Mobile SDET (iOS) to lead test automation efforts across our iOS application portfolio. This individual will be responsible for building and maintaining scalable test automation frameworks, improving release quality, reducing test flakiness, and driving best practices throughout the software development lifecycle.

The ideal candidate possesses deep expertise in Swift, XCTest, and XCUITest, along with strong leadership, communication, and quality advocacy skills.
Key Responsibilities
  • Design, implement, and maintain iOS automation frameworks using XCTest and XCUITest.
  • Develop reusable test utilities, page-object frameworks, and automation abstractions in Swift.
  • Establish test strategies, coverage goals, quality metrics, and risk-based testing approaches.
  • Create and maintain test plans (.xctestplan), automation roadmaps, and release readiness assessments.
  • Integrate automation into CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Fastlane, and xcodebuild.
  • Optimize parallel execution across simulators and physical devices.
  • Reduce test instability through robust synchronization methods, stable Accessibility Identifiers, network stubbing, and controlled application state management.
  • Develop integration and end-to-end testing solutions across ViewModels, networking layers, persistence frameworks, and mobile architecture components.
  • Drive accountability around Definition of Ready (DOR) and Definition of Done (DOD) standards within delivery teams.
  • Troubleshoot test failures using Xcode, Instruments, Console.app, crash logs, device logs, and simulator tooling.
  • Participate in code reviews and advocate for scalable, testable application architecture through dependency injection and modular design.
  • Document frameworks, processes, standards, and operational runbooks.
  • Mentor engineers on test automation best practices and quality engineering principles.
  • Collaborate effectively with product, engineering, QA, and business stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
  • 3-6+ years of experience in iOS test automation or SDET roles.
  • Strong proficiency in Swift, iOS SDKs, and mobile application testing.
  • Deep expertise with XCTest and XCUITest automation frameworks.
  • Experience testing both SwiftUI and UIKit applications.
  • Experience building automation frameworks and reusable testing utilities.
  • Strong understanding of iOS application architecture patterns including MVC, MVVM, and MVI.
  • Experience with asynchronous programming concepts including async/await and Combine.
  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines for iOS development and testing.
  • Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills related to performance, memory, and crash analysis.
  • Proven ability to systematically reduce automation flakiness and improve test reliability.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence teams and promote a quality-first mindset.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with mobile device farms such as BrowserStack, Sauce Labs, Perfecto, or AWS Device Farm.
  • Experience with API contract testing and mobile service validation tools.
  • Familiarity with Pact for Mobile and MockWebServer.
  • Experience supporting enterprise-scale mobile applications.
  • Experience mentoring developers and advancing quality engineering practices across organizations.
