Application Developer Specialist – Contract

Location: Pomona, CA (Inland Empire / Eastern LA County) – Onsite Employment Type: Contract (W2) Pay Rate:$46/hour

Position Overview

Our client, a well-established higher education institution in Southern California, is seeking an experienced Application Developer Specialist to support the design, development, enhancement, and maintenance of enterprise applications and software solutions. This contract role collaborates with IT teams, business stakeholders, and end users to deliver reliable, scalable, and efficient technology solutions supporting institutional operations.

The ideal candidate has strong application development experience, excellent troubleshooting skills, and the ability to translate business requirements into effective technical solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, implement, and maintain applications and software solutions
• Analyze business requirements and translate them into technical specifications
• Develop application enhancements, integrations, and custom solutions to support business needs
• Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve application issues in a timely manner
• Perform application testing, quality assurance, and deployment activities
• Collaborate with database administrators, infrastructure teams, vendors, and business users to support application performance and reliability
• Create and maintain technical documentation, including system specifications, processes, and user guides
• Participate in application upgrades, migrations, and system improvement initiatives
• Monitor application performance and recommend improvements to enhance functionality and user experience
• Support integrations between applications, databases, and third-party systems
• Follow development standards, security best practices, and change management processes

Required Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in application development, software engineering, or related technical roles
• Experience developing, enhancing, and supporting business applications
• Strong understanding of software development life cycle (SDLC) processes
• Experience with programming languages such as Java, C#, .NET, Python, JavaScript, or similar
• Experience working with databases, SQL queries, and application data structures
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams
• Excellent communication and documentation skills
• Bachelor''''''''''''''''s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related field preferred

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting enterprise application environments (higher education or healthcare a plus)
• Web application development experience with modern frameworks
• Familiarity with APIs, integrations, and application interfaces
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or similar)
• Knowledge of application security standards and best practices
• Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies
• Familiarity with enterprise systems such as ERP, CRM, LMS, or other business applications
