Prime Medicine is a leading biotechnology company dedicated to creating and delivering the next generation of gene editing therapies to patients. The Company is leveraging its proprietary Prime Editing platform, a versatile, precise and efficient gene editing technology, to develop a new class of differentiated, one-time, potentially curative genetic therapies. Designed to make only the right edit at the right position within a gene while minimizing unwanted DNA modifications, Prime Editors have the potential to repair almost all types of genetic mutations and work in many different tissues, organs and cell types.

Prime Medicine is currently progressing a diversified portfolio of investigational therapeutic programs organized around our core areas of focus: hematology, immunology & oncology, liver and lung. Position Overview

The Automation & Assays team, as part of the Technical Development & Operations (TDO) organization, is seeking a Research Associate to support the reliable, high-throughput testing of research and process development samples. This is a hands-on, execution-focused role centered on running established biochemical, ELISA, and cell-based assays on automated liquid handling systems, and on keeping the lab and its reagents ready for daily operations. Working under the guidance of scientists and engineers on the team, the Research Associate will follow established SOPs and assay procedures to generate high-quality, well-documented data across multiple programs.

This position provides an excellent entry point into an industrial biotechnology lab, with the opportunity to learn a diverse range of assays and automated workflows. The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, and comfortable executing routine work accurately and consistently in a fast-paced, team-based environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine testing and analysis of R&D samples using established biochemical, ELISA, and cell-based assays on automated liquid handling systems
  • Execute assays by following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Standard Operating Environments (SOEs), and assay procedures, escalating deviations or unexpected results to senior team members
  • Record experimental work accurately and completely in the electronic lab notebook (Benchling) in accordance with Data Integrity principles and good documentation practices
  • Prepare reagents, buffers, and assay-ready plates; maintain cell cultures for routine assay support under established protocols
  • Support lab operations through inventory management, consumable and reagent restocking, equipment upkeep, and general lab organization and cleanliness
  • Generate basic data summaries and present results to the team as needed
  • Support critical reagent and sample logistics, including receipt, labeling, and storage
  • Contribute to a safe, compliant, and well-organized laboratory; willingly learn new skills, assays, and processes

Qualifications / Requirements

  • High-school diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree in Biology, Biochemistry, or a related life-science field preferred
  • 3 - 5+ years of hands-on work experience; running wet-lab based diagnostics, or precision work, and following SOPs
  • Proficiency in core wet-lab techniques (accurate pipetting, dilutions, basic solution preparation)
  • Familiarity with plate-based assays (ELISA, cell-based, or biochemical) is a plus; prior use of automated equipment and instruments is a plus
  • Strong attention to detail and a demonstrated commitment to data integrity and accurate record-keeping
  • Able to manage time effectively, prioritize routine tasks, and work reliably both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
  • Dependable, curious, highly organized, with a can-do attitude and a genuine passion for helping patients
