Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced IBM i / AS400 CI/CD Engineer with a strong background in RPGLE development and modern Git-based DevOps practices.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience working with IBM i / AS400 applications while implementing or supporting Git, GitHub, CI/CD pipelines, automated builds, testing, and deployment processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines for IBM i / AS400 applications.
• Integrate IBM i development processes with Git and GitHub.
• Design and maintain GitHub Actions workflows for automated build, test, and deployment processes.
• Support source-code management, branching, pull requests, and code-review processes.
• Automate RPGLE/IBM i application builds and deployments.
• Work with IBM i development teams to modernize traditional development and release processes.
• Develop and maintain scripts for build and deployment automation.
• Support IBM i environments using IFS, PASE, SSH, and related development tools.
• Troubleshoot CI/CD pipeline failures and deployment issues.
• Collaborate with application developers, QA teams, and infrastructure/DevOps teams.
• Help improve release reliability, repeatability, and automation.

Required Skills

• Strong experience with IBM i / AS400 / iSeries development.
• Hands-on RPGLE / RPG IV experience.
• Experience with Git and GitHub.
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with GitHub Actions or similar CI/CD platforms.
• Strong knowledge of DB2 for i / DB2/400 and SQL.
• Experience with CL/CLLE.
• Experience with IBM i IFS, PASE, and SSH.
• Understanding of automated build and deployment processes.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Skills

• Code for IBM i / VS Code.
• IBM Rational Developer for i (RDi).
• makei / Makefiles.
• Tobi or similar IBM i build automation tools.
• Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, or Azure DevOps.
• Shell/Bash scripting.
• Automated testing.
• IBM i modernization experience.
• Experience transitioning traditional source-control/release processes to Git-based workflows.
