Job Description

Job DescriptionUser Research & Financial Sales Consultant \nLocation: Remote | United States\nFlexible Schedule | Performance-Based Compensation | Career Transition Opportunity\n\nTurn Your UX & Research Skills Into a Client-Focused Career\nAre you a UX researcher, UX designer, customer researcher, service designer, or other user-centered professional considering a career change?\nYour ability to understand people may be more valuable in sales than you realize.\n\nAt White Fence Life Partners, we're looking for people who know how to listen, ask thoughtful questions, uncover what matters to people, and develop solutions around their needs.\nThis isn't about convincing someone to buy something they don't need.

It's about learning how to understand a person's situation, identify their goals and concerns, uncover needs they may not have articulated themselves, and help them evaluate financial protection solutions that fit their circumstances.\nIf you've spent your career understanding users, you're already familiar with the foundation of consultative sales.\nWe're looking for people who want to apply those skills in a new environment while developing expertise in financial services, client relationships, and business development.\n\nWhat You'll Do\nAs a User Research & Financial Sales Consultant, you'll use a user-centered approach to understand prospective clients and help them make informed decisions about life insurance and financial protection.\nYour work will include:\n\n Conducting client discovery conversations to understand people's circumstances, priorities, goals, concerns, and motivations.\n Asking effective questions rather than making assumptions about what a client needs.\n Uncovering stated and unstated needs — including needs and wants clients may not initially recognize or know how to articulate.\n Identifying pain points, gaps, concerns, and unmet needs that may affect a client's financial protection.\n Listening for the difference between what someone says they want and what they may actually need.\n Exploring both known needs and unknown needs through thoughtful conversation and discovery.\n Synthesizing information gathered from conversations into a clear understanding of the client's situation.\n Presenting relevant life insurance and financial protection solutions based on the client's goals and circumstances.\n Educating clients so they can make informed decisions rather than simply presenting a product.\n Building long-term professional relationships through thoughtful follow-up and continued communication.\n Managing your client pipeline and maintaining accurate records.\n Participating in ongoing training in sales, financial products, communication, and leadership.\n Obtaining and maintaining the required state life insurance license, if not already licensed.\n\n\nWhy UX Researchers & Designers Can Thrive Here\nGreat sales conversations have so much in common with good user research.\nA successful researcher doesn't begin with the assumption that they already know the answer.

They investigate.

The same mindset applies here.\n\nYou'll learn to:\nListen → Question → Discover → Synthesize → Identify Needs → Recommend → Follow Up\nYour existing experience may already include skills such as:\n\n User interviews\n Qualitative research\n Stakeholder interviews\n Empathy and active listening\n Identifying pain points\n Understanding motivations and behaviors\n Discovering unmet needs\n Asking open-ended questions\n Recognizing patterns across conversations\n Synthesizing qualitative information\n Translating insights into recommendations\n Presenting findings\n Building trust with participants and stakeholders\n Communicating complex information clearly\n\n\nThe difference is the context.\nInstead of researching how people interact with a product or service, you'll be researching the person — their goals, concerns, priorities, financial situation, and definition of what they want to protect.

Then you'll use what you learn to help them evaluate potential solutions.\n\nThe Biggest Shift: From Finding Insights to Acting on Them\nIn UX research, discovering an unmet need is valuable.\nIn a client-facing role, you have the opportunity to do something with that insight immediately.\nYou may discover that a prospective client is primarily concerned about protecting their children, replacing income, covering a mortgage, planning for the future, or ensuring their family has financial stability.\nYou may also uncover concerns they hadn't previously considered.\nThat process of moving from discovery → insight → recommendation → action is at the heart of consultative sales.\n\nWho We're Looking For\nWe're particularly interested in individuals with backgrounds in:\n\n UX research\n UX/UI design\n Product design\n Service design\n Customer experience\n User research\n Market research\n Design research\n Human-centered design\n Customer success\n Customer service\n Consulting\n Communications\n Psychology or behavioral research\n Business development\n Other people-centered professions\n\n\nYou don't need a traditional sales background to be successful.\n\nWe're looking for people who are:\n\n Strong communicators and active listeners\n Curious about what motivates people\n Comfortable asking questions and conducting conversations\n Naturally interested in understanding problems before proposing solutions\n Organized and capable of managing multiple client relationships\n Self-motivated and comfortable working independently\n Coachable and interested in developing new professional skills\n Ethical and professional in their interactions\n Interested in building a career in financial services, consulting, sales, or entrepreneurship\n\nApplicants from all backgrounds are encouraged to apply.\n\nWhat We Provide\n\n Comprehensive onboarding and professional sales training\n One-on-one coaching and ongoing mentorship\n Training in consultative selling and client discovery\n Assistance obtaining your life insurance license, if needed\n Flexible scheduling\n Remote work opportunities where permitted by state licensing requirements\n Performance-based compensation, including commissions and incentive opportunities, in accordance with applicable laws and licensing requirements\n Opportunities for career advancement and leadership development\n\n\nA Different Kind of Sales Career\nIf the word "sales" makes you think of scripts, cold pitches, and trying to persuade people to buy something, this role may look different from what you expect.\nOur approach is centered on discovery and consultation.\nThe objective is to understand the person first.\n\n What are they trying to accomplish?\n What are they concerned about?\n What do they value?\n What problems are they trying to solve?\n What needs have they already identified?\n What needs haven't they considered yet?\n What would happen if those needs went unmet?\n\nThose are fundamentally human-centered questions.\nYour job is to listen carefully, understand the answers, and help clients evaluate appropriate financial protection solutions.\n\nStart Your Next Chapter\nYou may have entered UX because you enjoy understanding people.\nYou may have discovered through research that the most interesting part of your work wasn't the interface — it was the person using it.\nYou may simply be ready for a career where your communication, research, relationship-building, and problem-solving skills can lead somewhere new.\nIf you're interested in taking your user-centered skill set into a client-facing career, we'd like to talk with you.\n\nWhite Fence Life Partners provides training, mentorship, and a path to develop professional skills in financial services, consultative sales, and leadership.\n\nApply Now and explore what your research skills can do in a new career.\n\nWhite Fence Life Partners is an
