QA/Test Automation Engineer – Bioinformatics Domain

Location: San Diego, CA – Onsite from Day 1
Duration: 6 Months Contract

Job Summary

We are seeking a QA/Test Automation Engineer with Bioinformatics experience to support software quality assurance and test automation initiatives within the life sciences/healthcare domain. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with Robot Framework, Python, API and database testing, along with a solid background in manual testing and stakeholder communication.

Key Responsibilities

·       Design, develop, maintain, and execute automated test scripts using Robot Framework and Python.

·       Perform API testing and database testing, including validation of data integrity and system interactions.

·       Develop detailed test cases, test scenarios, test plans, and test execution reports.

·       Perform manual and automated functional, regression, integration, and system testing.

·       Utilize AI-powered testing tools and AI assistants such as Claude to accelerate test automation, test case development, debugging, and QA workflows.

·       Identify, document, track, and validate defects through JIRA.

·       Maintain QA documentation, test artifacts, and project information in Confluence.

·       Collaborate with developers, product teams, business stakeholders, and clients to understand requirements and resolve quality issues.

·       Independently communicate testing status, defects, risks, and project updates to stakeholders.

·       Support continuous improvement of QA processes, automation frameworks, and testing practices.

Required Qualifications

·       Hands-on experience with test automation using Robot Framework and Python.

·       Strong experience in API testing and database/SQL testing.

·       Familiarity with LIMS (Laboratory Information Management Systems).

·       Solid understanding of manual testing methodologies and test case design.

·       Experience with JIRA and Confluence.

·       Practical experience using AI-assisted testing or development tools, such as Claude or similar AI assistants.

·       Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.

·       Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

·       Proven ability to work directly with clients and independently manage stakeholder communication.

·       Ability to work onsite in San Diego, CA from Day 1.

Preferred Qualifications

·       Experience in Bioinformatics, Healthcare, Life Sciences, Biotechnology, or Laboratory Systems.

·       Experience testing scientific, laboratory, genomic, or bioinformatics applications.

·       Knowledge of CI/CD and modern software development/testing practices.
