Senior Staff Systems Engineer / Linux / Hybrid in Scottsdale

A large financial services organization is hiring a full-time Sr. Staff Systems Engineer with deep Linux expertise, based in the Scottsdale, AZ. This role focuses on building and supporting enterprise-scale Linux infrastructure across hybrid environments, with a strong emphasis on Red Hat Enterprise Linux, AWS cloud services, and automation using tools like Ansible and Terraform.

This is a highly technical, hands-on position for someone who enjoys operating at the systems level and digging into complex problems. The team is looking for an engineer who can go beyond surface-level fixes and truly troubleshoot down to root cause, while also helping modernize infrastructure through automation and cloud adoption. You will be working in a high-visibility environment supporting critical systems, with exposure to encryption, containerization, and evolving DevOps practices. Required Skills & Experience

• Strong experience administering Red Hat Enterprise Linux in enterprise environments
• Ability to confidently work from the command line and troubleshoot OS-level issues
• Experience building and maintaining Linux systems on VMware or similar virtualization platforms
• Strong troubleshooting skills across performance, storage, networking, and system-level failures
• Experience with automation tools, with a focus on Ansible and some exposure to Terraform
• Hands-on experience with AWS services such as EC2, S3, RDS, VPC, and monitoring tools
• Knowledge of encryption concepts and secure system design
• Ability to support production systems in an on-call rotation
• Strong documentation and communication skills

Desired Skills & Experience

• Experience with encryption platforms or key management solutions
• Familiarity with containerization technologies such as Docker or Kubernetes
• Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
• Scripting experience using Bash, Python, or similar languages
• Experience working in large, enterprise-scale environments
