Job description

At Guzman y Gomez Mexican Kitchen, our mission has always been to reinvent fast-food. We’re Australia’s only fast-food restaurant to be 100% clean, meaning there are no added preservatives, artificial flavours, added colours or unacceptable additives in our food. We’re incredibly proud of our amazing people, and the unique way we celebrate Mexican culture in everything we do.

As GYG grows, every restaurant depends on equipment and facilities that work. As Equipment & Facilities Manager, you'll be the first escalation point in your state for the issues the helpdesk can't resolve, working side by side with Operations Managers to get restaurants back to full speed. You'll hold contractors and suppliers to account, act on repair and maintenance trends, and drive down equipment downtime and OPEX across the state.

What You'll Do

  • Be the first escalation point in the state for equipment and facilities issues, following each one through to closure
  • Coordinate rapid response and replacement when equipment failures affect trading, including support for franchise restaurants
  • Monitor repair and maintenance spend, repeat faults and job volumes, and act on trends, including repair versus replace decisions
  • Spot warranty-eligible jobs, hold contractors accountable and recover value
  • Manage preventative maintenance, contractor performance and compliance against SLAs, insurance and safety standards
  • Manage equipment supplier relationships and state stock and spare parts under national agreements
  • Keep accurate asset records and contribute to equipment replacement forecasts and capex planning
  • Support equipment and facilities readiness for new restaurants, refurbishments and our electrification programme

What You'll Bring

  • A trade qualification, Certificate IV or Diploma, or a degree in Engineering, Maintenance, Operations Management or a related field
  • Proven experience in facilities, equipment, asset or repairs and maintenance management, ideally in QSR or foodservice
  • A strong understanding of equipment maintenance and safety regulations, with commercial kitchen equipment knowledge highly regarded
  • Excellent negotiation and supplier management skills, and commercial awareness
  • Confidence using preventative maintenance and inventory management software
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to juggle multiple jobs and deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills, a current driver's licence and willingness to travel within your state

What You'll Love

  • Salary range of $120k–$150k plus super, depending on experience
  • Annual short-term incentive scheme
  • GYG restricted shares, earned each year through our long-term incentive scheme
  • The opportunity to join one of Australia's fastest-growing restaurant companies, opening 30-40 new restaurants every year!
  • Real influence over restaurant performance, with a front-row seat to how Operations, Property and Construction work together
  • Up to 5 weeks of annual leave each year (ask us how)
  • Paid parental leave
  • Various career pathway opportunities, including unique opportunities such as becoming a GYG franchisee
