Senior LEV Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Senior LEV Engineer to provide technical leadership across our Local Exhaust Ventilation (LEV) services. This is a senior-level position responsible for ensuring the compliance, efficiency, and ongoing development of customer LEV systems. The successful candidate will lead statutory Thorough Examination and Testing (TExT) activities, support the design and implementation of new systems and upgrades, and act as the key technical authority within the business.

The role combines hands-on engineering expertise with project management, customer engagement, and team leadership responsibilities. You will also provide technical guidance to internal stakeholders, supporting sales activities and helping to identify opportunities for system improvements and future projects.

• Lead and conduct Thorough Examination and Testing (TExT) of LEV systems in accordance with COSHH regulations and HSG258 guidance.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and optimise a wide range of LEV and dust extraction systems to ensure peak performance and compliance.
• Design, specify, and develop LEV solutions, including extraction hoods, ductwork, fan systems, filtration units, and control systems.
• Manage LEV installation, refurbishment, and upgrade projects from specification through to completion.
• Utilise strong mechanical and electrical knowledge to inspect, repair, and improve extraction equipment, including fans, motors, dampers, filters, and control panels.
• Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and day-to-day support to LEV Technicians and junior engineers.
• Act as the primary technical contact for key customers, offering expert advice and practical solutions.
• Produce comprehensive technical reports, test documentation, specifications, and compliance records.
• Support the commercial and sales teams with accurate technical information relating to repairs, replacements, upgrades, and new installations.
• Identify opportunities for operational improvements, system enhancements, and additional service offerings.
• Participate in an on-call rota and respond to emergency call-outs when required.
• Champion high standards of safety, compliance, technical excellence, and customer service.

• Minimum 8 years' experience within LEV testing, servicing, maintenance, and system design.
• BOHS P601 qualification (LEV Thorough Examination and Testing).
• Strong understanding of COSHH regulations and HSG258 guidance.
• Extensive knowledge of LEV, dust extraction, fume extraction, and industrial ventilation systems.
• Proven experience designing, specifying, and managing LEV installations and upgrades.
• Sound mechanical and electrical engineering knowledge, including motors, fans, controls, filtration, and ductwork systems.
• Experience leading projects and managing technical activities on customer sites.
• Excellent communication and customer-facing skills.
• Strong report-writing and documentation abilities.
• Full UK driving licence.

• BOHS P602 qualification (LEV Design).
• BOHS P604 qualification (LEV Management).
• Experience supervising, mentoring, or developing junior engineers or technicians.
• Commercial awareness with the ability to support sales and business development activities through technical expertise.
