Title: Senior Web Application Developer
Location: Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling, Washington, DC - Onsite
Duration: 6 months W-2 Contract to Direct-Hire

We are seeking an experienced Senior Web Application Developer to support the modernization, enhancement, and maintenance of mission-critical web applications within a secure government environment. This role will focus on developing scalable, high-performance web solutions, improving legacy systems, and delivering data-driven applications that support operational decision-making. The ideal candidate will bring strong full-stack development expertise, experience working in Agile environments, and a passion for building secure, maintainable software solutions. Responsibilities • Design, develop, maintain, and modernize enterprise web applications to improve scalability, performance, and maintainability. • Develop modular, reusable, and efficient code using React.js, Node.js, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS. • Analyze and refactor legacy applications to reduce technical debt, enhance functionality, and improve code quality. • Build and maintain dashboards, workflows, reporting tools, and data visualizations that support mission and business operations. • Design, develop, and integrate RESTful APIs to enable seamless communication between systems and applications. • Optimize SQL queries, database structures, and application performance while ensuring data integrity and security. • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements, define technical solutions, and deliver scalable web-based applications. • Participate in Agile development activities, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives. • Conduct code reviews and promote development best practices to ensure high-quality software delivery. • Mentor junior developers and provide technical guidance across development efforts. • Develop reports, analytics, and actionable insights to support informed decision-making. • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve application issues in development, test, and production environments. • Support application deployments, updates, and ongoing maintenance activities. • Ensure compliance with security, configuration management, and software development standards Required Qualifications • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field; equivalent professional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. • 8-10 years of relevant web application development experience. • Active CompTIA Security+ CE certification, or the ability to obtain certification within 90 days of hire. • Strong proficiency with: ◦ React.js ◦ Node.js ◦ JavaScript ◦ HTML/CSS ◦ SQL • Experience developing and integrating RESTful APIs. • Experience with Git or other version control systems. • Proven ability to analyze, refactor, and improve legacy applications. • Experience working in Agile development environments utilizing methodologies such as Scrum, Extreme Programming (XP), or Kanban. • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills. Preferred Qualifications • Experience administering or supporting Linux (RHEL) environments, including system updates and maintenance. • Experience developing applications within secure government or Department of Defense environments. • Familiarity with application performance tuning and database optimization. • Knowledge of software architecture, design patterns, and modern web application frameworks. • Experience supporting highly secure, enterprise-scale systems and mission-critical applications. • Demonstrated ability to lead technical efforts and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
