Typically, this person will be responsible for carrying out mechanical installation, maintenance, and repair work across a range of marine vessels. This includes working on new build projects, refits, and ongoing maintenance, ensuring all work is completed to a high standard and in line with safety and quality requirements.

Duties and responsibilities of the Mechanical Fitter / Marine Engineer:

Carry out installation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical systems onboard vessels
Work on new builds, refits, and vessel maintenance projects
Strip, inspect, and rebuild mechanical components including engines, pumps, valves, and pipework
Read and interpret technical drawings and engineering specifications
Diagnose faults and carry out repairs in a timely and efficient manner
Ensure all work is completed in line with HSE and quality standards

Qualifications and requirements for the Mechanical Fitter / Marine Engineer:

Proven experience in a marine environment (shipyard, dockside, or onboard vessels)
Strong mechanical fitting experience (engines, propulsion, hydraulics, or pipe systems)
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
Relevant engineering qualification or apprenticeship (desirable)
Strong understanding of health and safety practices
