Position: AI Application Engineer – AI FDE
Level: Mid–Senior
Focus: Full-Stack (Angular / NestJS / Postgres) with Applied AI/LLM Depth
 
Role Overview
Looking for an AI Application Engineer to build the AI capabilities powering maternal health companion.
This is a hands-on, close-to-the-user engineering role focused on turning LLMs and AI agents into safe, reliable, and useful product experiences. The engineer will work across AI and traditional full-stack engineering.
 
Responsibilities
  • Build LLM-powered features and agents for Raya''s companion.
  • Develop prompting, RAG, tool use, and agent orchestration capabilities.
  • Design guardrails and escalation mechanisms to keep the product safe.
  • Ensure the product maintains its non-medical boundary and appropriately hands off to humans when necessary.
  • Build evaluations measuring conversation quality, tone, and safety.
  • Ship AI features end to end within the Angular / NestJS / Postgres stack.
  • Work from the model layer through the user-facing experience.
  • Iterate quickly based on actual user behavior and feedback.
  • Own AI features from prototype through production.
  • Handle sensitive health data responsibly using a HIPAA-aware approach.
  • Contribute to general full-stack development as needed.
Required Qualifications
  • Hands-on experience with Angular, NestJS, and Postgres, or proven ability to ramp up quickly.
  • Experience building LLM applications.
  • Practical experience with:
    • AI agents
    • RAG
    • Prompt/context engineering
    • AI APIs
  • Ability to ship AI features end to end.
  • Strong full-stack engineering capabilities.
  • Strong product mindset and focus on the actual user experience.
  • Understanding of AI safety, reliability, and evaluation.
  • Strong bias toward shipping and iterating quickly.
