Technical Writer with Security Clearance

MANTECH seeks a motivated and detail-oriented Technical Writer to join our team in Chesapeake, VA. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: * Research, analyze, and verify technical data to bring manuals to required standards ensuring accuracy of information
* Communicate with appropriate departments and coordinate production and distribution of materials
* Conduct parts research for mechanical and electrical systems and equipment
* Interface with customer personnel, vendors, and military personnel
* Revise or write standardized material for manuals, instruction books and related technical publications concerned with work methods and procedures, and installation, operation, and maintenance of machinery and other equipment
* Receive technical direction from supervisor or senior writer, notes, manuals containing operating procedures, detailed manufacturer's catalogs, drawings and other data relative to operation, maintenance, and service of equipment
* Access to blueprints, sketches, drawings, parts lists, specifications, mockups, and product samples to integrate and delineate technology, operating procedure, and production sequence and detail
* Must be able to travel occasionally Minimum Qualifications: * 2+ years of technical writer experience
* Proficient with Microsoft Office products, specifically MSWord
* Experience in the development of technical documents to specified military standards Preferred Qualifications: * Experience with Arbortext 8.3 and above.
* Understanding of SGML
* Knowledge of the military, commercial and recreational marine industry in boats under 200 feet
* Working knowledge of Google Office Products
* Experience in Quality Assurance of technical documentation Clearance Requirements: * U.S. Citizenship required and an active Secret security clearance Physical Requirements: * Ability to sit at a desk or workstation for extended periods while working on a computer
* Perform equipment validations on boats either on trailers or in the water.
* Ability to transport and lift up to 30 lbs.
* Ability to climb up to three (3) flights of stairs.
* Crawling and maneuvering in confined spaces or bilge areas, if required
